Question and Concern...

Does anyone use wheel locks on there 335i's? I got aftermarket wheels and I'll be highly pissed if I came back to my car and see them on blocks. Does anyone use wheel locks? If so which brand? I know some M3 owners use " RAD or McGuards " or simply OEM from BMW wheel locks but what about 335i owners? And also what about if using spacers? If someone can direct me I'll be highly satisfied!

I currently use the locking lug nuts that came in my stud/extended nut package. Before that I used McGuard locking lug bolts...

Locking lugs are not foolproof if someone really wants your wheels, but no use making it ez for them

I don't, but if I parked the car in places where I needed to be concerned about that, I would. For now, I'm content with letting my insurance coverage handle it.

+1. No need unless you park in sketchy places. Insurance will deal with most theft if you have them claimed on your coverage.

Does McGuard use wheel locks lugs with spacers? Yeah I know but I guess I rather use that and give them a little harder chance to do it than just say hey here they are.

yeah the issue for me (and countless others on this board) is that we have spacers on the hubs. I don't want to go through the hassle of a stud conversion just to be able to lock my wheels!

Wheels locks will not prevent wheels being stolen. If someone wants your wheels and sees that you have wheel lock, he may break window and find the key. Many people who has locks leave the key in glove box or somewhere in the car.

Studs conversion would definitely not prevent wheel theft. It is easy to remove even if you have special lug nuts.

Or you can buy lug bolt covers on ebay for $17.99. I got tired of looking at my somewhat rusted bolts so I bought these to cover them. Nice and clean!! They come with a little tool to take off... if you don't have that tool, they're not coming off!!

just dont be pissed about it, life is to short to let things like this deprive you from the joy of car modding. I parked my car outside once and got my window spitted on but that was about it lol.

I have Liberty Mutual, mainly because if something does happen to my car, they will cover the repair using only OEM parts, no aftermarket or refurbished parts. That does cost a bit more, but not too much, IMO. One can have that aspect of the policy removed.

My premium is reasonable to me, it's less than $1000/year for full coverage with lowest deductibles. Next year, however, I will drop the collision coverage because my car will be 7 years old and since collision covers repairing my car if I should should be the one to cause the damage. If I wreck the car (I have yet to do such a thing in over 30 years of driving), I'm more likely to just punt the car and buy a new one than I am to file a claim and have it fixed.

Just whacking a smaller sized socket over whatever lug lock is on there and that's pretty much it.

They are more of a deterrent than anything.

I actually have the same ones sitting in my trunk.

Considering theyre plastic though, its pretty easy to get through them if your looking to steal wheels. This is prob the lease of the thieves worries haha.

Also, wheel locks dont do shit man. I once had wheel locks on a past car. Lost the actual lock and my mechanic friend had a drill bit that broke right through my lock nuts anyway. Trust me, if my mechanic has that, thieves have it.

Just be conscious of where you park. When i park in public lots i look for security cameras and park in their view sight if possible. If you can avoid parking on the street, id do so. If the area warrants it that is.

Yeah I guess I need just to be cautious on where I park I mean shit if a E60 M5 with Asanti wheels parks around my way than I should be good lol but at the end I guess if they really want them they'll just take them but I'll be pissed lol would it be tougher if the car is drop tho?

I know what people are saying, it's the same with houses...if a pro wants to break into your house they're gonna get in...99.9% of door locks/security systems aren't stopping them. Hell there was a guy on here from CT a while back who had his high end wheels stolen out of his apartment building garage that has a 24 hr attendant and cameras!

Yeah, and the other car that had them stolen from the garage as well had wheel locks.. They smashed his windows and went looking for the wheel lock key, tore up his interior and broke his nav screen if i remember correctly for the trouble. Honestly, If they want my wheels they can take them, im not putting locks on them to risk that happening.. and its not the first time ive heard that happen. Ill just file through insurance and move on.
