hey all!

super excited to finally get my tune. After long hours of debate, i have finally decided and purchased my Rev2.5 SE. Since i have no plans to go to meth in the future, i thought it was my best option!

my only questions are,
1) does it come with the serial to usb adaptor? if not, where should i buy it?
2) ill be running the car with stock hardware for now, what map should i run it on? and how much extra stress will this cause my engine? ill get a FMIC/DCI eventually, but im lucky to have the OEM oil cooler on my build, so not terribly worried at the moment.
3) will i hear the turbo's spool up more? i can barely hear them now. i hope they get louder haha

anyways, super excited, cant wait for 3-5 business days!

Congrats on the purchase!

1. Not sure, just call the guys at vishnu and they should have an answer immediatley if no one is able to answer it on here tonight.

2.Personally I use Map 1 as I DD. I have DCI ATM only. Going flex-fuel later this week

3.The DCI's will definitely make the spooling noise more predominant than stock. I personally love them. Vishnu has a set that they personally sell on there site that I have been very happy with.

All in all you made a great decision. I got the tune a week after buying the car and was in AWE of how much faster the car was. Now 4 months later I have gotten used to it so I'm going with the flex fuel and e85 route to get more power . I also have a FMIC that I will get installed sometime next month also.

Major props to shiv and his team, they are all great and very insightful and helpful and are consistently coming out with updates and new things to keep us entertained with our babies haha

The harness should have a DB9 connector and you'll want to pick up a DB9 to USB cable. You can find them online, or if you have a electronic super store like Fry's Electronics, you can just pick one up there.

I think you'll find the car will respond very well with all the stock hardware for every day driver. If you're really going to push your car hard, then upgrade parts will be needed to help overcome some of the limitations of the stock hardware for track days. Otherwise, I think you'll be very happy knowing you car can make a lot of power without.

I would start with stage 0. You'll always be in map 1 to begin with. Do some logging and see how your car runs. If you need help with anything, a lot of people on the forum are always happy to help, so don't be afraid to search for information and then ask for help.

When you feel a little more comfortable with what you're doing, find a station that sells e85 and 5 to 8 gal of e85 in your tank, then top it off with premium. Load the 50/50 e85 maps and hold on to you butt dyno... As the car makes more boost, you should be able to hear the turbos spool but they'll never be loud.

Take your time and read as much as you can. I think you'll be very happy with the tune and it will definitely make the car much more enjoyable to drive.

Thanks for the reply guys! Its been a year since i got the car, and the stock power has not been enough!

I plan to datalog at first to make sure the car is running fine. im totally new to datalogging and tuning in general, so any explanations or links to reading material are welcome!

DCI makes a big difference soundwise. You can really hear the turbos spooling up once installed. It's a great bang for the buck performancewise with software added and it adds a lot of great sound. Win win for not much investment.

nice than you got 3-5 days to do some serious research in how the tune you just purchased work.

I always thought BMS and Vinshu DCIs were basically identical products. Is that not true?

i used to be fairly active on the N54 tuning scene until i got busy with work/school and had to spend time elsewhere. Now im having to re-learn everything i once knew

also, i though Vishnu used BMS's DCI as well...

I picked up the serial->usb cable from radio shack. It's one of the more expensive options, but it seems to be high quality and so far it's worked flawlessly. I connect to a Win7 VM on my Mac.

I love my 2.5 SE. Makes a huge difference.

They are different, atleast they used to be. The piping flares out on the Vishnu whereas the BMS doesn't.

Performance wise no intake is a landslide leader but some are technically better then others.

BMS has the biggest filters out of the DCI's. Go BMS. More air=better.

thanks for the replies guys! ill go BMS when the day comes.

as far as the tune goes, i need some clarifications.

i know that there are different maps (map 0 valet, map 1 autotune, etc). but how do you change between stock vs dci/dp vs FBO? different software downloads/stages? i know ill be running map 1 when i get the procede(and datalogging to make sure im okay). but how do i switch to a different stage when i install the supporting mods DCI/dp/fmic?

also, their website says ill see about 70-80 whp and 80-90 wtq increase. would this mean that ill be running roughly 330whp/340wtq? id prefer not to fork over for a dyno until i have mods worthy of it
