That's one of the (very minor) things I don't like about the car. The Piano Black is too fragile a finish for a center console.
Hey i got it from Ebay for $46.00 (the sheet of vinyl is massive, 1500mm x 1000mm) including shipping and everything. And it matches the leather carbon fibre trim perfectly inside.

It took a while to install but definitely looks much better. I just gotta see how well it stands up to heat/cold

Also, if you want to see some nice pics check out the garage: http://www.e90post.com/forums/bpgara...o=view&id=9259

Thanks. Looking at ebay and there are a number of types to choose from. Is that Di-NOC vinyl?

I don't put on enough miles to make it to the CBS oil change intervals, so I just get mine changed once a year.

On a related note, just passed 2000 km yesterday. Seems like a fairly short break in period. I thought it used to be 5000 km?

Yup, changed mine already. I'm way up in mileage. Still having a blast. Sometimes I just get the urge to punch it so i can get the kick in the pants!

What are the thoughts on the DINAN tune and if you get it, would get the DINAN tag on the trunk lid?
I have JB4. It will void your warranty if the dealer knows about it...but JB4 is really easy to install/un-install. I used JB3 for 3 years on my old e90 and I've been using JB4 for a while now. I don't think that warranty should be a huge concern...you can always read and delete codes and un-install it before going to the dealer.

It is honestly very close in colour. The texture on the vinyl is a little more smooth than the carbon leather, but it looks pretty good

Oh definitely, but to be honest I don't know how to remove the "lid" without it feeling like its about to snap

I will search the forums once I grow more patience lol

I'm surprised they even have an ashtray.

I'm glad they do, and I'm no fan of political correctness, but I'm still surprised.

What kind of gains did you see from it?

Havent tested on a dyno so no scientific proof of gains. You can feel the power though. Burger tuning has some dyno charts on their website of stock vs. jb4.

I've read a lot of usefull information and as a result me and the wife just purchased the ruby black auto version with all options. We are picking up the car on Saturday and are very excited. I have to say I started reading the thread from the beginning to now and it got me hooked on the car. Will be posting more and thx for all the infos it is very appreciated.

Welcome! and great choice

I wish I was you and got to hear it for the first time. I had goosebumps when I first heard the car grumbling into the pickup garage

It is also very comfortable and more fuel efficient than my old 2008 323i
