Faulty Fuel Meter Reading
I just filled up on fuel 2 days ago. Meter read I had 400 miles left. The next day it was down to 338, and the day after that 274. I only drove 5 drives max during this time and there are no fuel leaks anywhere.
What could be the issue here? Meter/sensor broken? |

Did the fuel gauge move accordingly or just the estimated distance? I believe its working as intented. Do some highway driving and it should go back up. Copypasta from other thread.. "The range is calculated on the basis of the way the car has been driven
over the last 18 miles/30 km and the amount of fuel currently in the tank." |

Assuming that's the case, it seems to reflect the amount of miles I've driven. So you are saying the "miles left" is only an estimate based on current driving styles? |

Is this car new to you?
How far did you drive? Did you only drive short distances? Have you tried selecting the MPG display on your Instrument cluster zeroing it out and seeing what it thinks its getting in terms of miles per gallon. Short drives in cold weather will produce the worst mileage. What kind of gas do you use? How many miles on the car? When has it last had an Air Filter or plugs? A diagnostic scan would be a good starting point. Also this is the stereo board so this question belongs on the general question forum. Last edited by ctuna; 12-22-2017 at 11:36 AM.. |
