Cobb Dyno Protune for $500 or Etune for $250?

My friend recently had his 535 pro tuned and I have attached his dyno results. He told me that he was very pleased with the results and with the extra power that was found. He also said that he car became much smoother after this dyno tune. I am considering using the same tuner or possibly using PTF for an etune for my Z4 35i. I would like to hear the advantages, disadvantages and experiences of both. Obviously the big disadvantage is a $250 price difference so I am wondering if it is worth it for a local protune.

Countless positive comments are around about PTF.

I would pay 1000 to get a dyno tune with PTF and If you you have the luck of living close enough to get a pro tune with a dyno don't hesitate for 500!

500 for a Dyno tune is a decent buy.

Garage List
The e-tune will be just as effective as long as you maintain the same flat route when taking logs although the dyno tune can generally be done a bit quicker.

It all comes down to your preference of tuner.

If you could, I'd recommend that you contact PTF, try to rent a dyno + have them eTune while you're on the dyno (just take logs of whatever channels they need while the dyno operator makes the pulls).

Thanks for the kind words guys

Lambobimmer,

The performance difference between on the road e-tuning and dyno tuning is pretty small. Dyno tuning is important and serves a purpose(especially if it is a unique setup) but if you would like to save a few $ and still have an awesome tune E-tuning is always a great option.

for double sure...i rented a dyno and had jake dial everything in remotely. great experience, the other benefit is literally seeing the improvements from pull to pull from each tune update.

I've spent a decent amount of money on my car already and I have to say the PTF pro-tune was probably my favorite. I'm in New York so I chose to get the e-tune. It was a great experience. I will always recommend them cause I had such a great experience with them. And if you want another tune, say for e85, it's only an extra $99. No brainer in my opinion.
