N54 Oil Filter Wrench Size

Hello all what is the Oil Filter wrench size for the N54?

I just measured 86mm across the oil filter housing cover.

Probably simpler to just buy one specifically labelled for the car though, as I don't know if the number of flats is common. A band style would be tough to get purchase on, and of could there no way to properly torque the thing with one of those.

What size socket you'll need for the wrench will depend on which wrench you have. I think the aftermarket one I saw is a different socket size than the OEM BMW.

the description from that amazon link says 86.5mm with 16 flats. i actually got mine from a dif website for much cheaper but its the same part

Did you not read my post? 86mm measured with a micrometer. No I didn't worry about the exact thousandths, but it was 3.39 to 3.40" which is 86 and a fraction mm

I bought a adjustable wrench from NAPA for about $6. Even though its 86mm the wrench I got goes up to 82mm I think but it fit!

Sorry to wake this post, but after looking around (online and at the auto parts stores) I found this part fits my 2006 bmw 325 and its waaaaay cheaper...
