need help diagnosing codes...

I had a few long cranks and the car would misfire hardcore when in vacuum but runs fairly smooth with in boost. Ran the bt tool and got these codes.


Current Fault Codes

29CD:
29CD Misfirings, cylinder 1
Error will cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have not been completed
Signal or value below threshold

Could be many things, hpfp, injector, coil, 2 sensor, plugs, or any combo of these. Start basic and check the plugs and swap the coils. there is a high chance it is hpfp related too with the 2fbf

thanks for your help i changed the plugs already and they seemed to have the normal wear for 20k plugs the mechanic said the coils looked fine and they also looked at the injectors with a boroscope and said they looked to be fine as well. only issue left i guess is fp or bad o2 sensor.

I don't think looking at the injectors with a boroscope will tell anything. I don't mean they are faulty, but that they must be tested and not just looked on.

can dealer only test them or can they be done independently?

I don't know but guess it is primarily BMW and the injector manufacturer that conducts such test. Dealers change parts based on codes and cut-and-try methods and wild guessings, so it not even sure they can make a component test like this. Check with the dealer what they are able to do.
