Are new RFTs better than the old ones???

My car's at 30k mi and it's high time to swap out the tires.

My original RFT tires (Turanza EL42 - 205/55/R16) rode very harshly. Can anyone comment if newer ones ride any better? The best people to answer this would be those who've swapped out their old OEMs for replacement OEMs.

My car's a 2006 325i, non-sport.

Bridgestone replaced my original RFTs at 21K miles on a 06 325i (BMW at that time was of no help). The new ones rode good for about 10K miles (like the olds ones). Now with 26K miles they are as bumpy and noisy as the OEMs. However, they do ride good in heavy rain (even with 26K miles on them) unlike the originals when they feathered.

yeah that's kind of what I figured. However, I had a loaner once which was a car basically identical to mine which had the Bridgestones on it. That car drove great, so much so in fact that I wondered if the tire design had changed. They didn't just ride like my OEMs did when new - they didn't have issues at all. I was quite surprised, and it actually got me to consider RFTs again. Is there anyone else with new Turanzas who can corroborate?

I have 10K on my stock summers with no complaints. The ZSP setup's a little skittish on bumps but zero ride-quality issues.
