I don't know how people can't like Rossi, he's exactly what the sport needs

Would be far duller without him there.

I think with Rossi its often a "love to hate" thing - and some people dont like people who are so utterly self confident and his arrogance can often be misunderstood. If you are a true bike racing fan then you cant help but admire people like him because you can appreciate what its taken for him to get where he is and achieve what he has achieved. That said, his seasons on the Duke have done him few favours and often youre only as good as your last race result. His move back to Yamaha will hopefully turn things around but its not too soon, especially with the arrival of the likes of Marquez!!

Rossi may have as many detractors as fans (and very visually in the old Biaggi / Rossi days).

However, all motorsports benefit from having proper characters with a larger than life persona at the top.

The only thing better is a proper needle match. Doohan / the rest, Rossi / Gibernau / Biaggi, or Biaggi and pretty much everyone out there! Hodgson / Walker in BSB back in the day has to be right up there though.

The trouble with MotoGP at the moment is the usual. Too much electronic development and grip, and guys who are too focused to let their hair down at the track.

More power and less grip, more sliding and riders who need big balls instead of engineers with laptops is what's needed!

I guess the same could be said for the likes of other motorsports ie F1 etc.

Problem is, in this day and age where you have all the clip board nazis who insist you must wear a high vis and hard hat in order to change a plug, the safety parameters are so tightly controlled that you could never be seen to regress. Funnily enough i watched Senna again, for the 37th time, the other day and when you see crashes like that of Ratzenberger et al it does make you shudder. Its a tough one, the spectator wants more excitement and action but it needs to be balanced with the safety of those at the sharp end.
