Unhappy Do cars get totaled from hail damage like this?

UPDATE ON PAGE 5!!!

I know, another "Do You Think This Is Totaled" thread. Sorry. We had a massive, massive hailstorm tonight, and my poor car got pretty trashed. Hail was softball-sized, and both cars were in the driveway and got hit pretty hard. I ran out as soon as I saw hail and tried to cover the car with blankets, towels and anything I could find, but the hail was coming down so hard that it actually tore holes in the blankets.

Front windshield is shattered
Back windshield is completely gone, and some of the wiring for the rear brake light looks a little mangled
Glass and water in the front and back of the car
Every body panel except for the rear bumper has multiple large (3-4" diameter) dents (looks like someone took a baseball bat to the car), some have taken the paint all the way down to the metal as you can see in one of the photos
The passenger side mirror got dislocated
and as a final F*** You from the weather gods, a giant hailstone came down right in the middle of my hood roundel and crushed it

I've filed a claim on both cars (the other car lost a windshield and sunroof, and has some pretty sizable dents, but it looks like my car caught the worst of it). The adjuster won't be able to come out until next week due to the volume of hail claims in my area, but everyone who has seen the car has said that it's totaled. What do you guys think?

I got a few photos right after it happened, and will get more in the morning. I'm really sad right now My car was my baby, and I felt so helpless, watching it happen and not being able to do anything about it.

I honestly think they could total it... We had a hail storm hit here and the dealership had cars less than yours written off... So sad

That's awful, man! Unless it adversely affected your electronics inside and out, I would be inclined to say that it is probably not totaled. A friend of mine, in your area, just posted on FB that people stopped on 75 in the middle of the road, under bridges, and completely stopped traffic so that those behind them could not go anywhere, and thus couldn't get out of the hail storm, and that she felt kind of left out to the elements. I'd be livid! Hope your insurance guy takes good care of your baby!

yes, I did, actually LOL
For a while I was trying to use my body as a shield and sort of laying across my hood, but my husband dragged me back into the house. After I saw the size of some of those hailstones I guess I'm glad he did that.

Yeah, it was really bad. I'm glad I wasn't out in it when it hit. The car would have had to be towed home -- no way I'd be able to see out of the windshield :\

I do have a garage but we'd left the cars out because we were planning on going back out after dinner tonight. The forecast just predicted a minor thunderstorm

I did have to move the car after everything died down, and electronics all worked, but of course the car yelled at me about the brake light. Other than that (and some wet seats, and the fact that it looks like water got into the speakers on the rear deck) I think the interior and electronics are OK.
