I bought a great 2004 330i ZHP today. Car only has 52,000 miles on it. It's going to be a great DD and replace my 05 WRX STi.

I need a bit of help choosing a Winter Tire package for my 330i. Tire rack has two suggested sizes in 17", one with 205 size tires the other with 225. I know the 225 will look better on the car however the 205's should give better winter traction.

Comments?

Thanks

I would square your setup w/ 205s or 215s.

There is a 90% chance ill be in Vegas already. So I just need to make the short journey to Pasadena, sleep, and then head to the rose bowl.

I'd say as long as you have winters on...an extra 10-20mm of width won't matter. Mine are 245s out back (used to be 255s), and I go just fine. Car is heavier...but think you'd be just fine with a wider (and better looking) tire.

I'm leaning towards the 4 X 225, I think 205's would look sooo small on the car.

Agreed. I would run 225s all the way around.

It will look good, and feel good during the dry times. My E90 has done 235s all around since I started driving E90s. Today was the first day I could not make it up a hill. Had to turn around and find another way out.

It is very slick out today. I must say I will miss the STi's 4X4 snow traction. It goes pretty much anywhere.

Unfortunately 215 isn't listed for sizes available in the tires I'm looking at.

That, is a terrible idea. What were they thinking?

EDIT: Looks like MFest is attempting to change the weekend.

Would have been better from what I heard if it didn't snow the day before.

It was in Salt Lake City, at this coffee shop around 1700 S and state and I forgot the exact date. It was some saturday a week after school started so around Jan 12th or something. It was just a EURO car meet but JDM cars showed up and it was supposedly to help the coffee shops' sales.
