It actually makes quite a bit of difference. L7 is, from what I read, really hard to upgrade. Part of the problem is that I don't know of any reputable installers around me.
All you need to do is recode or buy an ms-8 or both. Or you could buy the $700 mobridge converter
Recoding won't help since he's replacing the headunit.

I was under the impression that replacing the head unit while not losing any functionality was a monumental task. If it's just the matter of buying an amp, I'm going to have to start saving up for this HU. The Dynavin looks like crap compared to this.

Most people make it seem like big deal. If you dont relocate the stock head unit you'll lose your chimes, BMW assist if you have it, and the dealers ability to update the car. No big deal.

I verified with Bavarian Sound Werks yesterday
that their stage 1, which includes new speakers,
tweeters in door near window, door speakers
and two different sets of rear speakers,
will all work fine with my base audio and
my Kenwood HU. Also, their upcoming amplifier
will work as well. This is the route I'm going
for speaker/amp upgrade.

For you guys with the base audio, they are
also developing sub-woofer replacement for
under seats.

If you have hi-fi or logic7 give them a call
to check your situation with a Kenwood HU

I have the BSW Logic7 Upgrade speakers with my HiFi system & factory amp, and they sound noticeably better then the factory speakers Only originals I still use are the underseat woofers...

From my understanding, the BSW do not take full advantage of an aftermarket amp though - normally you would go with another brand aftermarket with a new amp system.

But you cant beat the PnP feature of the BSW's and the higher sound quality over factory HiFi sets

BTW, they have had the 'upcoming amp' listed for at least 1 year (prolly 2) now - still no results, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

Sure.

My installer, Roberts Mobile Electronics, in Louisville, KY is providing me a complete install package/list of what we accomplished on my car and I will posting it as a PDF next week.

How long does it take from the time you turn on the car before you hear music? I'm worried the startup time on these is 20 seconds.

Startup time is about half the time required for the BMW Nav/Audio. Nav signal is instantaneous.

Can you take a quick video starting with the unit/car off and then turn it all on? That would be awesome.

what he means is that Kenwood offers a 2-year warranty when you purchase from an AUTHORIZED DEALER. Kenwood does not warranty online purchases.

What are other options? Trying to figure
out what is available is impossible to a noobie.
I posted for help and got no responses some
time ago.

BSW is really expensive for what you get. Just pm or email vpelectricity with your budget and what your trying to achieve.
