Engine noises running Cobb normal?
Is it normal to hear an increase in whines and rattles after installing a tune? Running Cobb Stage 1 +FMIC aggressive tune with Dinan FMIC and Oil Cooler on my 335is. Car runs strong with no codes but makes a lot more noise (whines and rattles) when running a tune compared to stock. Looked at a log and didn't see any noticable issues and zero timing corrections but it grunts and rattles like a sick pig. Normal? If I unistall the tune, the noise quiets down considerably.

Maybe wastegate noise? I know on my procede you can change the values for the wastegate settings. On stock zero rattle. Tuned rattle (dependent on setting).
If its adjustable on your AP give that a whirl perhaps.

I've noticed more noise on my jb4 setup. I think it's the wastegates, but it's intermittent and I've tried different settings.
335is too... |

I recently got my Cobb AP and when I first installed the Stage 1 aggressive map, I thought the engine ran very rough and thought I heard rattling, strange noises, etc. But after a few days running it, the car really seems to drive smoother and the noises I heard (or thought I heard) seemed to of gone away.

I'm getting closer...after several map changes and uninstalls, I've determined the noise happens with or without a tune installed. It's really noticable as the car downshifts in the low rpms. I can replicate the noise in park idling about 1250 rpm. Goes away slightly below or above this range. Doesn't do it at cold start but after it's been driven a bit.
I can hear it in the cabin, but not outside of the car with the hood up. In the cabin, it sounds as it's coming from the passenger side of the engine. Was thinking water pump at first but now leaning more towards some kind of harmonic rattle. Found a thread about someone relacing a fuel line and a simialr noise went away. Any thoughts? |
