Anyone done an AT to MT tranny swap on the 135i/335i?

I guess it's the popular question among AT users who reads that section, what I've found so far is some expereince from 325i owner:

Also curious about this. Hopefully can do the swap in the future and slap on a single turbo kit and make the e90 a weekend car

For the cost associated with it, just strengthen the AT for 4k

It shouldn't cost that much if you get all the parts from a wrecked 335i. And I wouldn't want to spend 4K and still be stuck with an auto

Nah... the 6at is a fine transmission. And i think it will be easiest to run down the strip if that is your thing. But despite the extra work it takes to get a 600+whp 6MT down the strip, the fun/involvement it offers on the road is awesome. Big power 6ats hitting the road soon though. And I have a feeling they are going to work better than most people expect

I suppose you could sell the AT for a good chunk of change.

You have to know that the single turbo makes more power but it can be tuned to have less torque.. They were all around 4xx torque already..

I actually thought about doing this. A buddy of mine found a local shop that has a wrecked E90 with a 6MT in great condition. We were planning on tackling this swap as a fun project to add to my friend's list of work. He's done, plenty of motor swaps and tranny swaps on E30's to E46's, so I think it'll be cool to try out on this platform.

I'll update everyone if this actually falls through or not because I'm still waiting on the shops reply about my offer.
