The sedan and couple are 95% identical inside (obvious things like bigger doors and sliding seats notwithstanding).

So both the sedan and coupé will have buttons (my car has an entire row with only one blank) if you have options which use the buttons such as HDC and heated seats and the Jalousie.

Looks like I'll be putting the concealed display by the pillar on the driver's side (By the inspection sticker). So here's a question about wiring. I hard wired it through the fuse box behind the glove box. I was thinking about tucking the wire across the windshield. Will this be an issue as far as defroster? Any other suggestions?

Because lets say you hard-wire the radar detector, and then the radio stops working, do you think they will blame the radar and not warranty the radio? I don't want to ruin my warranty in any way before I install it.

Use the fusebox method and unwire it if you need to have service and you won't have an issue.

See my post, where I show pictures about running this wire under the dash, then up and out along the pillar. It's very easy and conceals the wire entirely.

Saw the pics.

I ended up going a row over to the right of yours as far as which fuse to tap. I used the first 5 fuse (3rd one over). I believe it was the homelink (#28). Correct if I'm wrong.

Other than that, looks great. I like the idea with the coat hanger.

Thanks.

The fuse socket I use acts in the following manner:

If I forget to turn off the radar detector that socket loses power in about 15 minutes.

When I unlock the car with the fob, the circuit recieves power and I hear the detector startup.

Homelink is a great fuse to use IMO, and that's what I recommend using in the V1 hardwire thread:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17506

It goes on and off with the ignition. You never need to manually turn the detector on and off. I think you'll enjoy it how it is. Good luck and drive safe..

But when you turn car on and off it will defintely turn on and off.

The one I use only turns off about 15 mintues after the car has been off. So if you turn the car on and off several times without exceeding 15 minute off time, the radar detector won't be noise-making during that time.

Likewise, it turns on with the key. So again, no turning on and off, but more convenient.

Im sure that would work fine but I dont think the ashtray cover would be cheaper than the panel I cut. Here is the one I cut FRONT PLATE, CONTR. AUTO AIR CONDITIONER 1 64116966406 $22.32

I just took apart the concealment display and cut the panel to fit and glued it in place and clamped it for a couple hours. The wire runs through the back under the radio and then behind the glove box over to the passenger side A pillar under the weather stripping on the inside. From there I took out the visor and overhead light panel and routed the wire across using the open holes created by removing these to get to the rear view mirror. A coat hanger will help just feed the hanger through and tape the wire to it and pull it back through.

Is there any where you can place the main unit so that it is more hidden and will still work (nearly) as well as mounted to the winshield? The main reason I want to do concealed display is to deter thieves and hide it from cops. Neither of these are really addressed when you still have it mounted on the winshield. I guess I don't really see the point.

Speaking of the V1 w/ Concealed Display...

Just got the V1, and I have a question about the V1 w/ Concealed Display...

Is there any way to have both the V1 detector's visual display on AND the Concealed Display (at the cig lighter plug) ON at the same time?

I really don't care if ppl see my radar detector...I just wanted to duplicate the visual signals (both up on the windshield and down below by my gear shifter), so I thought having the Concealed Display there is a good idea. However, it seems like if I have the Concealed Display connected, the V1 radar detector lights automatically go off...is there any way to turn it back on while the Concealed Display is also on?

I don't know of any way to keep the main unit on, maybe if you cut one of the wires in the phone cord going to the Concealed Display. Maybe ill have to try it and see.
