they do have a clause, but I thought it was "if the cost of repairs exceeds/is close to the value of the car per claim"?

If it is per claim, you should be good...no?

Also a clause stating that lifetime repair costs cannot exceed the value of the car.

2015 Update For Policy

I am not sure if the plans are different depending on where you sign up but I saw a product sheet at sdccu that looks like its from Route 66.

The Easy route is only valid if your car is 2009 and newer and have less than 85000 Miles on it. This is based on the 2015 product sheet.

I actually heard it was 50k miles. They said that if my car was over 50k they would have to put me on the main street vs easy street.

When did you guys purchase your policies?

I heard from the rep at SDCCU that last year was based on the 2008 model..so not sure when they change that policy.

Not sure if this is old:
https://www.penfed.org/Route-66-Extended-Warranty/

Edit:
So I called Route 66 and confirmed with them that plans are different between CU's.

Seems like Penfen does offer EasyStreet For 8yrs or newer vehicles with less than 75k Miles.

I just got (2 weeks ago) a 5yr/100k Route 66 Easy Street plan on my 2008 135i with 49k miles. $2400. Would have been main street if it had over 50k miles.

Makes sense now that you got your money's worth the e92.

By the way I wanted to ask...you had so many issues..how do you know when to bring it to the shop? was there something that popped up in your display that told you to bring it in or was there something that didn't feel right with the car.

I log almost every day. But there were the obvious things that would pop up codes.

I also would try to pop the engine once a week minimum to check for obvious leaks etc.

I love route 66... Can't imagine how this exclusionary policy will be better than my last

Did route 66 send any claim adjuster out to look on the car before approval? Or the shop just called it in and that was that?

No adjuster, supposedly for claims above $500 they usually do... But I had $9k or so of work done without anyone from Route 66 ever seeing my car.

Thats pretty amazing!

I just got my car at 2008 e92@63k used its at 66.5k now and I am thinking of getting extended warranty.

It feels really solid and I had a reputable mechanic in my area check it out and they said the only thing up coming would be the control arms as the bushings are leaking.

My car isn't throwing any codes since I got it..but its only been 3.5k

The plan that I qualify for is the 5yr - 100k Easy Street plan which means I am only getting 34k of coverage which I can most likely go through in 3yrs or so. I might wait till next year when my Turbo warranty expires and pick up the Main Street so that I have coverage till 110k+

Hey Hilly - can you tell me which CU you registered with?

I am actually interested in that plan if it is cheaper than 5 yr 100k from Penfed.

Can someone explain this better. Do they "fix" your problems when you take it in for repairs or what?

I have the same warranty, I paid $1900 though. This was offered to me when I refinanced my car through my CU. I am VERY happy I did it. They just recently covered my oil leak, instead of paying $900, I paid 100 (just the cost of the oil change). They don't cover normal wear and tear stuff, liquids, and a couple other things but 98% of things are covered.

I haven't had a single issue, if I get another older BMW I will get this warranty. Its already paid for itself and its only in year 3 now!

Nice! Going to definitely check this out. Was just looking at a warranty through my bank that was more expensive and shorter coverage.

I contacted Route 66, requesting participating CUs in my area (SoCal). Their only recommendation was Golden 1 Credit Union, which doesn't even mention auto warranties on its website.

Any other suggestions...?

BTW, thx to the OP for bringing this subject up. Could definitely be a great deal for those of us with out-of-warranty BMWs.

Not quite sure what you're asking, but when my car needed repairs, I just brought it to my mechanic, gave them my Route 66 info, and that was it. I didn't have any direct contact with Route 66 before, during, or after the repair.

You're all welcome, felt I needed to share this info. I'm onto my second BMW with a Route 66 warranty. I feel completely reassured with them backing up my car.

I'll take a 10% finders fee deductible for all future repairs you guys have

Ohh I see so you take it in for repair, give them the Route 66 info and they take care the rest?
