Just check you're current battery and was what rating it is ie 70aH/80aH/700a/800A you dont want to go for a lesser powered one.But the same or higher will work.

The fogs, head lights and number plate lights do not - have the setting set to 30Sec and assume this refers to how long they should remain on for when I park up and get out and lock the car. however as soon a the doors open, the cut off. Im am getting the "warning battery very low" around 1-2 mins after I start to play with Idrive when the cars off... |

Yeah I would go with the low battery current theory. The cars electronics will pull none essential systems to save load on the battery. As you say if it's the original battery on a 56 plate then I would def change it. I can leave my ignition on for 30 mins at a time with no warnings coming on so sounds like the battery is shot

The function you refer to wasnt available on the early cars. There used to be loads of threads on stuff like this but as the long term members leave the info gets lost. Came in around 07 if I remember either way my 2005 330d does not have it. The 30 sec function is how long the lights stay on for when you pull the stalk. The info is all out there somewhere.

Its not that I don't believe you, It's a forum and I prefer and take into account EVERYONE'S opinion and yours is MUCH appreciated too Bosch S5 picked up today, so ill be trying it later. I did notice on a run to Birmingham and back yesterday when I opened the door the lights came on!!!! So its 100% defo the battery! Don't think I'm going to waste money on registering/coding the battery, a lot of people saying its not required and why pay money for coding a battery.... |

Oh OK thats great. I know mine does not have it and I remember looking into it years ago and finding out that not all cars had the function. I cannot remember which ones did or didnt. It does put all the lights on if you pull the stalk. In fact I will google it now to refresh my memory.

100% sorted and fixed guys!!
So moral of the story is, even if Idrive doesn't list an option for Welcome lights, doesn't mean you don't have them. However i'm not stating all E90's will have the Welcome lights function - if you don't get an error message "BATTERY SEVERELY LOW" when you leave the cars electrics running without ignition on assume you don't have this function and your battery is fine. Thanks for everyone's input |
