Honda civic turbo vs 335i-what do you guys think?
So long story short, this person I know keeps talking smack on how his turbo civic will destroy my 335i.
I keep thinking this guy is crazy! And my car feels pretty fast. He won't tell me his mods, all I know is that it's a 98 civic hatchback. I know he put a turbo in it and did some work on it cuz he was without his car for a while. He's always talking smack that he will destroy me. I have a 07 e92 auto. Current mods are: Dinan exhaust Ar downpipes Vrsf 7 intercooler Jb4 map 5 Dci Just did brand new oem turbos and 6 brand new injectors. What do you guys think? Should I race this guy? Should I do some additional mods? |

It really depends on what is done to it. I have a few friends that have turbo hatches that have destroyed my FBO and tuned 335.

"Turbo Civic" is just too many variables. It is likely you will not come out well.
Even with the stock D16 single cam motor running moderate (8-10psi) boost, he will be making around 250whp. That may not sound intimidating, but remember that car weighs at least 1,000 lbs. less than a 335i. A fully built single cam 1.6 can make 450whp or more. A fully built K24 could be making more than 700whp. Bottom line is: it's not terribly difficult or expensive to get a stripped out Civic hatch to run 120+ mph traps... A difficult task for a stock-turbo 335i. |

If he did a good job and the turbo is big enough he will rape you. But as to his comments about your 335i, you only get flak over the bomb zone.
Race if it's just for fun, but be aware that it's a lose-lose for you. If he wins then you lose, and if you win, then you were supposed to. |

It is extremely unlikely that a FWD car without slicks can beat a 335i, no matter what horsepower he runs.
just race from a dig, you'll be ok

I knew a guy with a Turbo Acura RSX, he run slicks and still couldn’t put down 240whp, Another guy in an Nissan Altima with ~350whp was spinning the front tires in 4th gear on a drag strip (this is with slicks) FWD is a Joke

I have a 00 civic si with a poormans type r turbo making 365whp. I just bought a 335i e92 6spd two weeks ago. Stock with a hks bov kit and I can honestly say my civic is faster with no slicks and full interior. I'm not sure with all the mods you have but good luck! All depends on the driver

once upon a time in my life I was big on Hondas and I can tell you that stock they are slow as hell, but with the right engine swap and turbo setup it doesn't take much to put down impressive numbers. If your friend wants to race you is cause he knows what your car can do or he doubts your abilities as a driver. you'll probably loose in my opinion but it wont be by much

If the turbo is on the smaller side you will be ok from a low roll with the instant torque. From a 40-60 roll any tuned mid grade turbo with modest boost will pull you eventually. It's a wide range I know, but literally with them that's what it is. A 50trim or even gt30 will make them move!
