Stupid person needs help with JB4 install - Can't get #2 wire out...

EDIT: THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!

Everything on the install went smooth thus far until this. I've read 2 diy's with pics that just says push in with screwdriver to unlock and then pull. I've been pushing in awhile now and the wire isn't budging.

Detailed explanation please?

<--retard

BTW This is for the green power connector that has the flap and you have to remove the orange wire so that you can plug the male JB4 wire into the #2 slot

i think you are trying to remove the wrong one, pick the one on the opposite side.

It's this guy.....for the life of me can someone tell me exactly where to push so this thing will come out? I've pushed in both slots and the thing doesn't budge. I've been messing with it for awhile now.

You see that little silver thing about ~1cm to the left of your ring finger? It's a spring tab. Take a small screwdriver or a toothpick and just push it in gently, and gently pull the orange wire out. If you feel too much resistance, then you are not doing it correctly and you will break the pin from the wire. It should come out effortlessly.

Man, i'm pushing it in different angles and what not and different pressures. The thing just isn't budging. I tried it on the other side just to make sure I didn't mess up anything, it's definitely me. I can't believe how something so simple stumps me. DP install was nothing (rips out hair)

If you look at the terminal on the JB4 harness that you have to insert into that green connector you can see it has a small dart on the one side that protrudes in order to lock it inside the the connector. That's what you're pushing on to release it. The terminal on the JB4 harness is identical to the one BMW uses.

Make sure you apply pressure on that dart before you start pulling it down, out of the connector, or it will dig into the plastic.

Also, once you get it out, make sure that you push the terminal on the JB4 far enough into the connector to get that dart to spring out or else you'll wind up with a loose connection.

I just installed my JB4 last weekend and it took me a couple tries before I was able to slide it out.

Try pushing the wire in then push in the silver tab. You might pulled out the wire a little too much and it's putting some restriction on the tab going down.

If it's the first time you are pulling that power wire, it can be very tough to get out. When I switched my power wire for the Procede, that guy fought me to the end. Just keep working at it. Push the crap out of the tab, while at the same time putting a gentle force on the wire to pull it out.

Thread is essentially dead, but I just want to point out that I had so much trouble with this that we had to call it quits. It just refused to come out.
