said to myself one day "f*ck it. i want the american dream- debt." i have to be honest though. I do have a very good job and still live at home. 3 years ago i was single and didnt give a shit about anything other than my wants. fast forward and im i a serious relationship and since we're planning the next couple of steps together, i definitely would not have gotten it if i was to do it all over again.

Dag you would waste all that money on a car.....I had friends circa 2008 who due to the economy were asked to delay their start after getting a firm job offer, and we're talking 140 starting salary, so they got 70 to not show up for a year. Most of those people saved every penny and tried to find other work to supplement....I can get the notion of a free car with say a great stock trade, or flipping a property, but not so much from wages. That's not free, that's hard-earned.

The good part about it is you're "planning" the next couple of steps. You always make mistakes in life, but the more you make early on, the less you make later on imho. I remember when I refi'd my first car, a buddy at work laughed saying you're only saving $20/mo. by going through all that, we spend $20/day on lunch, so why bother? I saw it as $240 per year times 3 years, but also a way to learn about restructuring the debt. It's just a few mouse clicks, and then a ride to the bank with the check.

Male escort for cougars.... 8-) (Oh, then I woke up.)
ASIC Design Engineer.
BMW = Justification for Higher Education.

This isn't my first BMW.
I've owned an e30 M3 and an E36 M3.
I work hard and buy what I like.
I let the other poor stiff lease them new and I buy them at a serious discount 2-3 years after new.

I'm blessed that my dad loves bimmers and has a great job so he got me an '09 E90 as my first car. We got an extremely good deal on it. I paid a 1/5 of it and for insurance. Got the money from savings and YouTube advertising money

PS. I traded in a 97 honda accord that I was almost embarrassed to drive into the dealership.
Nice story. I'm glad you got your reward in the end.

I resent your Accord comment, though. I'm still driving my 97 civic. Waiting to receive my offer letter before I buy my 335.

I saved up and paid cash. Of course, I bought mine in 09 when it had come off lease, so it was less expensive than a new one.

It is my DREAM to do that to someone. I'm pretty young and so people always look at me the way they did to you. It's infuriating, isn't it?

Hey, that's still pretty good. That is more than can be said about most people who buy cars (let alone anything) these days.

4 years in the Army (18 months in Iraq, talk about $$$$$).... Came out, used what I didnt blow on parties and other crap to place a down payment on the 335i. Father co-signed cuz my credits shitty. Making decent payments on my own, working a warehouse gig. Hoping to change careers soon, for the better.

Good for you

I get treated like crap by salesmen all the time because I am a girl with tattoos, and I guess I don't "look like" someone who "should be" driving a "nice" car. Even though I make more than they do, they think it's OK to judge people who don't look like they work on Wall St. Screw 'em.

As far as how I afford my car...Um, I have a job. I found the one I wanted, called my credit union, traded my car in for it and drove it home.

I bought a used 335 with remaining warranty and low miles instead of the new one I considered getting first. I have a good interest rate with a low monthly payment and I pocket the savings (who am I kidding...I use them for mods and a trust fund for when my car is out of warranty lol)

College, Masters, job.. Pay off loans, save, meanwhile start an online love affair with the E46, then scout, scout, scout and find a killer deal 5 hours away on a used E46 with remaining warranty. Fast forward 4 years, sell said E46 for a good price because it's still in mint condition, then repeat scouting process, find another killer deal on an E92 cross-country, fast forward 1 yr, posting in this thread!!!
