Re: Blowers blowing out white particles

Hi All,

Does anybody know why my blowers are blowing out white particles while I having the heating on cold or if the air con is on? The leather interior has gone white!!!! Is there something I can do for this not to happen again?

Thanks,

Gary

Common fault with e9x made between certain dates (can't remember exactly but 2006 / 2007 I think) where the aluminium heat exchangers in the A/C corrode and blow out loads of Aluminium Oxide. Only solution is a new heat exchanger ££££

Dear me Alex!

Is this the problem you think I have and do you have to get it done or will it just go away in time?

It gets worse.

Mine was a tiny bit and now there is snow storm when it turns on..

Yeah you have this problem.. Its not cheap..

But I can't be dealing with the mess and my newborn won't be safe breathing alu oxide in daily..

Get a decent independent dealer to do the work..

Thank you very much for the info and do hope you can sort it quick for your new child!!

Dose it happen when we put hot air or air con on? Mine seems to happen when cold air on in face (on screen only blower seems ok).

Put the blowers onto all areas and full blast..

That will then come out of everywhere. Even the back vents ha.

Its worse after its been standing and is hot and cold for me. Aircon works perfectly though and is ice cold.

Hope you get it sorted and thank you

£800 from an indy.. If you have current warranty it's covered.

Needs a new ac evaporator.

It needs the whole dash out replace..

Its a very common problem bmw released a sib about it.

Poor coating on the aluminium fins on denso evaporators.

On a side note, is anyone else disappointed with the quality of BMW? I have a 07 e92 so hoping this doesnt happen to me.

Seems to be another "common fault" to add to the list of a so called premium badged car. After security issues, coils, cracked wheels and more it seems u pay for the badge and the badge only

Just got home from work and i had the same thing. Not quite a snow storm but makes it look like i have a bad dandruff problem. With other recent issues with my car the least i can say is i am pretty damn pissed off at the moment.

Need to check how much this is going to cost but £800 job is the last thing i need right now. Makes me think about just selling and buying something other than bmw.

Edit: I am having issues with the speed of my blower fluctuating as i have posted in another thread. Anyone think these issues could be relaed or just coincidence?

If you're cars got full history buy an AUC warranty sit on it for a while then claim on it.The faults will be unrelated.
