Where to get some decent quality reg plates

As per title really. Having polisdhed the car with the porter cable in perpetration of applying some gtechniq exo I think new plates are in order.

Rather order on line than piss about at halfords with ID etc. .

Woul like the ones with perspex on rather than laminated.

Anyone ?

I was very tempted with pressed steel ones.
But I could only get them legally spaced, and I didn't want that

I recently purchased pressed steel plates from here - http://eireplates.com/platesurrounds.asp

Very very pleased with the service and the quality of the plates.

Use their 'plate tool' to space your registration the way you want it.

Don't use Halfords.

I went there for some last year. First attempt they actually got the registration in the wrong order. Second time the letters were wonky and the plate was full of air bubbles where they had poorly applied the final coating so I just walked out.

Ended up getting them from fancyplates.com. Happy enough with the final product.

are steel pressed plates road legal if the letters are correct size and spaced etc?

i always assumed they were not legal and only for show use.

Probably not, unless painted with a retroreflective material.

I can't say for sure whether my plates are, but they do appear to have a reflective finish of some kind.

There is the issue of raised alphanumerics causing a problem with the ANPR system; though some do and others don't.

Try your local bmw dealer. Mine were well priced and importantly they put the bmw garage name on the bottom.

Got mine from Demon Plates. Went for the 'domed carbon' ones, very pleased with them.

Garage List
Aslong as the plates display the BSAU145a moniker, they can be assumed legal.

Mind you, any monkey could print that on the plate.............
