Talking SSK short shift lever & high gloss black trim

Guys,

So this is a very important thread I'm starting here for all you with manual transmission on your 335's. I just placed an order with getbmwparts.com last week for a short shift lever, that supposedly only works for the 325i and 330i. The part cost: $63.00....now I know you've all looked at the UUC shortshift kits and the OEM BMW short shift kit for the 335i and all the others that are out there. Well here's the scoop, and if I'm repeating something everyone else already knows.....the $63.00 part installs perfectly on the 335i.

My shifting is just amazing now. First of all, the stock shift knob sits about an inch lower now with the new short shift lever, and I would say the throws between gears have been reduced at least 40%.

Also, I ordered the high gloss black trim to swap out my grey poplar trim, and I love it. The trim installed so easily, I mean the entire thing took less than an hour. I attached a night time shot from the iphone. The trim looks sporty, elegant, and sophisticated. I love it.

Anyhow, hope this little tidbit about the short shift lever at www.getbmwparts.com also known as tischer bmw is helpful.

Thanks,
Elie

oh yeh, I forgot to mention. The sales rep that helped was Evan Winstead. They do business via aim, and his screen name is Evan at Tischer.

Craig,

I realize the pic is a bit dark, I was just anxious to get an image out there and thought the trim looked amazing at night. Anyhow, I'll try and upload some additional images this week showing the trim daytime.

Is the shifting much stiffer than the original one?

thats cool, im glad that you figured this out, it will save alot of people money, but the reason why the short shifter for the 335 is so much, is because its BMW PERFORMANCE and they can mark the price up on that because its special.

Guys,

The item # at getbmwparts.com is 25110434219, this is the BMW OEM short shift lever. The part is on page 2 of the OEM specials. They do not take responsibility or recommend installing on applications other than those listed; however, it's perfectly suited for the 335i, just make sure to follow the diy on e90post for installing the short shifter. Also, getbmwparts recommends that you order a new shift bearing and the circlip for the shift lever, I think those added up to about $10 or so together. Good luck guys.

So what your saying is you can get a noticeably better shifter for $73.

shortening a shifter handle does not shorten your throw. It actually makes it longer since you have less angle and less leverage. Short throw shifters do not shorten the throws by shortening the shifter handle. But it may look and feel better with the shortened shifter if thats what you prefer but having a shorter handle does absolutely nothing for performance. Just a heads up
