Hi All,

I have been reading a lot of great stuff here, but have never posted before - thanks for all the great bits of info and help!

Underneath my 325 N52 there is a rather odd looking opening (hole) - please see photos. I’ve tried to get as good shots as I can - anyone have any idea what this is and if it is normal?

Just bought the car and splash guard has fallen off - so reluctant to drive with a gaping hole underneath before addressing these issues.

You mean that square opening in the bottom of the transmission bell housing? Normal.

Do you happen to know its purpose/function?

Usually it's just an inspection port and to gain access to the torque converter bolts during transmission removal.
