Post Autozeitung: BMW 335i vs Mercedes CLK 350

In the german carmag Autozeitung there is a comparison between 335i and CLK350. I haven't read the comparison myself since its not out in the stores in Sweden yet. If anyone read it, please let me know what they thought about the cars.

All I know so far is that the 335i was tested with automatic gearbox.
Following amazing times were meassured:
0-100 km/h in 5,3 sec
0-160 km/h in 11,9 sec
0-200 km/h in 18,7 sec

Like I said I have no idea which car they prefer or won but one thing is for sure. Those times are incredible good :rocks:

I wonder if the car is slightly faster with the manual gearbox

I don't have the numbers, but I would be shocked if a CLK350 ran anywhere near the 335, even an automatic. The CLK500 (now 550) would, but the 350 shouldn't be that close. It runs 60 the low sixes, I believe.

one last favor please 0-200km/h for the CLK350?

BTW I dont understand, did they also compare 335i to M3 E46 on a track since they said 335i was faster than a M3?

I've got an '03 CLK500 ... she's pushin 57,000 miles and I'm starting to put some thought into my next ride. Would you guys consider the E92 a "step down" from my W209? I might hold out for the M3, but lord knows how long that may take ... The thing I love most about my CLK - the lack of a B-pillar, is really holding me back from pulling the trigger on the 3-series..

Step down from Luxury and Class.

Step up from Sporty and Fun.

Drive it, and see if you like it.

0-120 km/h 8,6 s
0-140 km/h 11,3 s
0-160 km/h 14,5 s
0-180 km/h 18,2 s
0-200 km/h 23,3 s

No they didn't compare the 335i to a M3 E46.
They only mentioned that the laptime was one second better than the laptime of a M3 with SMG, maybe from an earlier test.

I'd take the 2007 CLK550 over the E92 335i any day of the week. But again, its significantly more expensive, I'm sure 15k more.

They're better than the CLK 55AMG, and don't tell me the CLK 55AMG isnt better than the 335i.

The M3 will be out within a year, but if your not on a waiting list soon expect to pay several thousand over MSRP (which is stupid).

If you really can't live with a b-pillar, get the E93 335. No b-pillar and no top .

Attached is a PS, but a rather accurate one...

I couldn't find a CLK 55AMG, but the CLK550 does 0-60 in 5.1 sec. Thats 0.2sec faster for $15k. Sure this is not a scientific comparison, lacks revelant statistics and other very important data, ignores base differences, and is a poor generalization. But the numbers work in favor of the arguement that the money could be spent better elsewhere (such as the car pictured above).

Maroco Journalists have tested the car as well
Here are their times: 0-100km/h in 5,2 sec!!!!!
110 km/h in 2nd gear, 155 km/h in 3rd, 210km/h in 4th

I guess it depends on what you want from a car. Sure that 5.5L V8 is a sweet powerplant, but I don't think anyone would bet on the CLK in the twisties.

Are you using MB's stated times for the 550 or the real times? That CLK will be under 5 seconds to 60, just as the SL with the same engine is under 5 seconds.
