Question Fitting A Thule Cycle Carrier to BMW Roof Bars

I've just bought BMW Roof Bars and attempted to fit my Thule Bike Carrier. The track in the roof bars is wide (wider than in Thule roof bars) and the T-shaped screw in the bike carrier appears to be too small for the roof bar track. I thought the BMW Roof Bars were universal?

Has anyone come across this before and does anyone know what the answer is?

I don't think I'm overlooking anything. I've got my BMW dealership looking into it but there must be an obvious, easy answer.

Cheers
