umm...i've never been to SLO before...how far is the drive, and is it a one day trip...when is it the latest that you can sign up?

I never been slo too. but it's about 2 hour drive for one way. about sign up, it's to the last minute.

Since I am from San Francisco and attend Cal Poly SLO. I'll give you guys some info. Going from San Tomas Expressway in San Jose to Highway 1 (to Morro Bay) in San Luis Obispo is approximately 2.5 hours going about 75mph. Cops are notorious in King City because the speed limit changes from 65 to 70 there. However, Paso Robles is the other place to watch out for. It is almost as heavily patrolled as that of King City. And to get to Morro Bay, since you need to get on Highway 1, don't take the Highway 1 exit. Take the one after that, which is Santa Rosa. Then turn left onto Santa Rosa at the stop light to head westbound. Santa Rosa is Highway 1. Reason being that if you take the Highway 1 exit, there is only a stop sign for you to turn right to get onto Santa Rosa. If you take the Santa Rosa exit, there is a stop light. Just an FYI.

And yes, if you have a V1 use it!!!
