Alpina B3 Convertible
Nice article they are pushing out 355bhp from the 335i twin turbo unit and torque up to 368lb/ft.
When the face lift arrives for the E90 it will be interesting to see if this becomes the standard output for the 335i As a guide the rolling road day in Marlow put the std. 335i from memory mid way between these performance figures and manafactured stock. If this was accurate the gap for BMW to get to these figures is not as big as it may look on paper. http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/...B3-3.4/231978/ I do like the styling of Alpinas they have a understated elegance about them.

I've got info, from an usually reliable source, that the face lifted 335i will have 340hp... I have no idea about the torque, I'm guessing 450NM or so...

Love Alpinas. The convertible B3 is lovely, and the new D3 bi-turbo looks great (maybe next......)
However, this really gets me excited; the B3 Allrad (4wd - mega!) If only because it looks like going finding snow just to do this would be soooo goooood But the Allrad probably won't be coming to the UK I just love the idea of proper all weather sports GTs. |

I just don't "get" the styling of the front end especially - looks dated.

When I also think Alpina I think light coloured quality Piped Leather. If only BMW could do this themselves as part of an upgraded range and not at silly money. In the UK we just do not see enough of them on the road. I don't think I have ever seen an E90 varient alpina and considering the 4 dr D3 is £27,000 they are great value for money.

I must admit, that I too was not an alpina fan, but it's definitley growing on me...
Tuning wise I don't think they are much more than 110 - 120% what BMW do stock, but I bet the handling is good - and the design is looking better the older I get. I'd really like one of these in dark blue... anyone else ? ... they seem good value too, being the same as or only a bit more than stock prices... for a lot of BM kudos ? SJ |

+1 Or in black.
What I love about Alpinas are that they are hugely well engineered (excellent ride handling compromise for instance, on 19s), and I particularly like the exclusivity; the fact that they are an acquired taste and seem to only be for those 'in the know'. That makes them all the more appealing to me. |
