Sorry Peter. You do seem to lean to the TT, but I'm with Gibbo here. It has to be the A5.
Besides, when I looked at the pictures, I associated the TT with a cute midget submarine and the A5 with a Boomer! |

Both look really nice. The A5 has amazing road presence - but IMO, it needs at least 240+bhp to make it remotely exciting. It feels very heavy. Lovely, nonetheless.
So TT for me |

The new A5 should look like this
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/au..._revealed.html Not too sure about the new Audi 'shark' eyes (new A4,A5,A6) these days. I prefer the older A5 better. They seem to have got rid of the tacky LED strip though..the new models look more like BMW's angel eyes in their own way. |

It's the new MY12 car, just built and with the sculptured headlights as in the pic above. Other changes are subtle but include flat bottomed steering wheel like the TT.

I'm in the A5 camp Pete, especially if a new shape one, and if you find it needs a few more beans over time, surely a remap will become available.
The extra practicality will come in handy too for occassional use. I think the A5 looks more classy too.

I'd go for neither - well not with those engines. If I was going to spend that kind of money I'd get something that was a bit more interesting and exciting and NOT buy something just because it was a "good deal".

I was going to say TT as its more of a sports car but as its the facelifted A5 I'd go for that as it looks much fresher than the older cars or the TT which is dated now.

This is a good point actually. For some really odd reason, Mercedes have not put the 6 pot diesel (C350 CDI) into the coupé even though you can get it in the saloon or estate.

Two very different cars and drives Peter.
With those engine choices, I would go for the A5, they have so much more road presence imo. but, if it was a TTS, that would swing it back

Peter, parked just up the road today was a 61 plates Scirocco Tdi in White and it looked stunning. Understand it's really easy to spend other people's money but just another option either petrol or diesel which gives you a lot of the TT with extra practicality.
Not sure if there is any deals on these but quite fancy one myself.

Gibbo's shout is a good one....when looking at potential replacements for the Mini, the TT has obviously come up yet I can't look at one of those past a Scirocco which, if you're to believe what you read in the press, get's better reviews for being the better car to drive. It's maybe less prestigious but if it drives better, offers a bit more practicality and is cheaper, it's got to be worth a look. I reckon your budget would also get you into an Scirocco 'R' fitted with ALL the nice bits of kit I know you'd like.
Aside from that, I've never been an A5 fan and my automatic choice would have been for the TT. But, after considering your dilemma and looking at the 'new' A5's, I actually think that would be my preference, even with the slower engine (can't you just strrrreeettttchhh to the 2.0 Turbo??). So, out of your two choices if it's to be one of them, it's a vote for the A5 from me. |

A5. IMHO blokes (especially big ones like me) just don't look right driving TTs which is a shame because I love them.

Not a great fan of the A5 so it would be the TT but as others have said might be worth a look at the Scirocco I loved mine but it was the R although I'm actually enjoying the TT more once I got over the hairdresser image.
