Downpipe options

I was about to purchase a set of riss racing dp for my car and was wondering if they would fit on the xi, there is nothing that states they will or wont. i checked bms and their dp seems to be universal for both the i and xi. any info would be greatly appreciated!

CP-e, VRSF, AR, UR, VK (no longer in prod), and OBX (there are a few xi guys who've installed these and said they fit/function fine) in no real order.

I'm pretty sure the BMS DP's don't fit the XI. I asked Terry once.

Not sure about the Riss's. VRSF does make a set for the XI, just make sure you get the ones that specify it's for the XI.

AR's

AR's have never given me a day of trouble and I know they are just pipes, but man they are put together nicely. Quality right there!

Correct. No issue. Software blocks the code. Downpipe fix needed once per year. VRSF went in easy, sounds great, and gave a noticeable bump in power.

You have to just run the stock o2 sensor. There's no room for an o2 spacer in there if that's what you're referring to.

If you're running a tune it should take care of that, depending upon the tune. otherwise you'll need a DP fix from BMS tuning

I have had the AR downpipes on my 2008 335xi coupe which I sold on the forums and I now have a 2000 335i xdrive coupe with the VRSF downpipes and they actually fit better than the AR"s. Having had both I am 100% certain the VRSF"s are the way to go for cost/performance benefit. I also have a Cobb access port and it does eliminate all check engine lights related to the catless downpipes. They will not however help you pass the test at the inspection station. I live in jersey and we don't have a sniffer test so the BMS downpipes fix will make you pass the ecu test.

ecu test is what ends up failing catless downpipes? and do you know if i have to keep resetting the engine codes with the cobb or is it a one time deal?

You never have to reset codes. Cobb does it for you automatically.

No need for the BMS fix if you're running Cobb stage 2. Inspection is the only time you'd need the BMS fix. You can't run the Stage 2 Cobb map when you go for inspection because it suppresses the Check Engine Light.
