hey guys been trying to research it as much as i could because i heard that forge diverter valves leak alot but i cant find anybody complaining of them leaking is this true that they do leak would you guys advise me against doing it?

If u install them properly they won't leak. But I would use a stett charge pipe with it as well to be safe.

mine did not leak on the OEM charge pipe.


OP, the charge pipe that Stett offers replaces the plastic charge pipe where the DV's are located.

Do the OEM DVs really cause a lot of leaking warranting the need to upgrade to Forge DVs?

on boost levels of 15psi i do not know active autowereke strongly sugested the upgrade to a bov maybe to sell their product i do not know

if you are basically stock - the stock DVs should be fine...
if you run a tune with 14 -15+ psi get aftermarket DV or BOV.

It isnt so much that the OEM DVs leak from the charge pipe, its moreso that they use a rubber diaphragm inside them that opens and closes to let boost pass by. This diaphragm is built to happily withstand stock boost levels, but once taken out of this range it can become unreliable and tear.

The stock DVs on the N54 motor are nearly identical to the ones used in Audi applications on the B5 S4, Pre-2005.5 A4, RS6, etc, and have been known to tear which will ruin boost response, power, and driveability pretty badly.

Also, since the springs generally arent meant to handle increased boost, they can not function as efficiently as an upgraded unit.

The Forge dvs use a metal plunger design that can absolutely never tear since there is not a diaphragm. It comes with different springs to tune it for your boost level as well as fine tuning discs to add slightly more resistance if needed. The new Forge DV revision will not leak and it will definitely provide much better performance than the factory valve. I've personally used Forge DVs in my personal cars (Audi, Porsche, BMW) for years and have had a great experience with them.

Not at full throttle since pressure is equal on both sides of the diaphragm, therefore they can't leak unless torn.

However, at part throttle, the stock diverters often bleed off boost too soon compared to the stiffer forge springs.

So part throttle response is much better with the forge units.....especially on the lagfix maps.

100% agreed. Upon initial tip in of the throttle, you get better boost response with the forge units as well, but once the throttle is open and boost is flowing, as you said, its the same.

A Member here was running forge dv's, and they were working good, but the stock locking clips on the intake pipe was where the boost was leaking. He went and got the stett intake pipe with the same dv setup, and there was no leak at all.
