Help! I need help! Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my car's steering?

Hi everyone, can any of you experts tell me what's going on with my E92's steering? Two videos attached.

In the first two videos above, you can hear the loud clicking sound (sounds like someone dropping wooden logs on the ground... a loud "clunk"... best way to describe it).

In the third video above, there's a very loud high-pitch whine when I turn, especially when I turn left.

Dealership wants to charge me $150 just for a diagnostic, so I'd like to gather some of your feedback first!!

Car has 58K on it. Have maintained it every year under warranty; this is the first year without warranty and this happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure, but I would absolutely take it to a good indy (i.e. someone with good ratings and who specializes in bmw) instead of the dealer. You're going to pay like double for the repair at the dealership.

I will start with tensioner,pulley and belt...also check lower steering shaft,there is a bolt that you can tighten a little bit to fix the steering play.You can also try to lubricate the steering column seal,once you remove your steeing wheel.

^ this part is prone to fail on XI

Find an independent mechanic if you don't like the dealership diagnostic fee. The car must be out of warranty or you would go to the dealer.

It sounds like a steering shaft / box / arm issue from the video.

I have the same sound on the 3rd video. But it does it intermittently which is annoying. Was told it may be the blower motor but it seems like the sound comes from steering wheel and not where the motor is located . Can you point out exactly where the sound is coming from or r u not sure also?! -Gohan335i7N54
