MS-8 setup plz help

I am about the install the JBL MS-8 but I have a couple of questions regarding the installation.

my current setup:

Hifi HU -> 3sixty.2 -> 2x 4 ch. amp -> Morel HO front and rear(passive) /Center MT22 tweeter(passive)/ STOCK underseat subs All amped

I realized that I'll have to
1)solder the RCA plugs to the HU low level output wires, or
2)Reinstall the OEM hi-fi amp back?

which is the best option?

for option 1, since I need the rear output for the PDC sound,
is it correct that I solder FL+/RL+ together to RCA center, FL-/RL- together to shield for 1 channel and so on?

what if I just take the rear output signals into the ms-8, worse?

As well, for the calibration, is the below setting correct?

-Calibration volume: 35dB (20dB, 35dB or 40dB?)
- skip input setup
- Sub = None
- Front = 2-way, 40Hz subsonic filter at 24dB, 180Hz at 24dB Hi/Lo
- Center = 1-way, 2khz @ 24dB (since I only have a tweeter)
- Sides = None
- Rear = 1-way, 200Hz at 24dB
- Listening volume after calibration -6dB

Thanks!

Technic can tell you how to do it.

Did you say you have two 4 channel amps?
What kind are they ?
Some one else was on here asking about the PDC recently I think
the solution was to combine the left and right front and rear channels
with a Y before feeding them to the MS-8 .
I don't see why you would want to put the stock amp back in under
any condition. If you don't have enough amp channels for every speaker you could always run the rear's off the ms-8 alone.

Somebody needs to do and MS-8 sticky

There are more threads like the one above try search = ms-8

Thanks for your reply. my amps are phass 4.100tp.

I have read through tons of ms8 threads but couldn't find a difinite answer, I was wondering why I should use Y cable or Y plug if I could simply solder each left or right output signal to a rca plug?

If you bought the Technic Harness

If you bought the Technic Harness.
You wouldn't have to solder anything.
Also you should understand that there is no ground its
a differential signal coming out of the Head Unit if its Hi Fi or
a speaker level signal(+and -) if its from the Base System there is no ground.

Don't know why you are running a 3sixty.2 and a ms-8 they are both processors , but I am not that familiar with either one but the ms-8 has daily threads running on it how to interface and tune it. So I guess you are putting the ms-8 in where the 3sixty goes?(to get more channels of processor power)

Wow Vacuum tube car amps. I don't see how the tubes would take
the shock of riding in a car. I wonder if there Inputs are capable of
taking a differential signal.

Calibration volume depends on your speakers efficiency and power going to them. I have found that you should try and make the ms-8 sweeps around 50db-55db for good results. Best way to do this is play the pink noise through the test menu, adjust gains so all channels are equal, then adjust the ms-8 volume until the pink noise is around 50-55db. Then calibrate at that ms-8 volume. But by all means have a play with the volume and you'll find out what sounds best for you.

Also change your front set up to 50hz@24db for underseats and 200hz@24db for the HO.

^^ thanks!

One more question, is it ok to connect the OEM headunit output to High level input of MS-8?? Any disavantage? (I just realized that I connected the HU signals to my current 3sixty.2 High level input, and it's beening working fine)

Hi Fi head unit output is 5 volt differential

It's not considered a high level signal . It feeds the High Fi amp .
A lot of the guys that use the ms-8 reprogram there L7 Head Units
for Hi Fi output and use it that way.
