spot cleaning bird crap?

do you guys know of any good products to clean bird crap and other spots of dirt without totally washing the car? i'm looking for a very mild product that i can use to just clean a small dirty area if my car is already clean. any help would be appreciated. if you experts just clean your whole car when this happens i will also do that, thanks.

you can use any spray detailer, like meguires. The key to it is spray it on and let is set for a minute or two and then wipe off gently. Leaving the spray on there will soften the crap again and it should come right off. I hate bird shit!

Water & a small rag or paper towel. Lots of water, and the paper towel won't hurt the car. It's a whole lot better than leaving bird crap on your car and leaving it in the sun for the rest of the week. Bird crap is caustic and will eat your paint. Better to clean it then wait.

i use a paper towel and.." HOT WATER " soak the towel than let it sit over the..." bird _hit!!".. It will soften up the stuff after a few seconds ..then wipe the soft stuff away!!! no scratches or anything....just hit the spot with some polish or wax...thats it...glen

Well I have a black car coming, and I know for certain that I am not using a paper towel on it. Talk about scratching the car. Ouch. Use a soft cloth and water is okay if you have noting better, but like I said some sort of spray on detailer or wash would have better gliding properties. Make sure you let it set a bit to soften.

I have an emergency kit in my trunk just for this purpose. A quick spritz of QD, let it sit for about a minute or two and a blot with a MF towel. Some (if not most) birds use sand in their digestive tract to help "process" what they eat. Bird crap, from my understanding is both gritty AND acidic. Try not to rub it off.

I have 3 coats of MGC. With that, all I need is a wet paper towel or terry cloth rag, and it comes off easy!

Yes. I have a bottle of Griot's Speed Shine I got as a freebie that I don't use so I threw it in the trunk with a microfiber towel in a baggie. You don't really need quick detail spray but I like to use it. Water might do just as good.

NO PAPER TOWELS* AND HELL NO ON THE WINDEX

*not for wiping but good to soak the area with water. Warm works best. Then a nice mf and some Quick Detailer or a product like Spray and Wipe from Poorboys World. Or my fav use a hose to spray it off and then a lead blower to dry it. This of cause it not for a clean car.

Windex is nasty and will strip everything off the paint.

I second what impulsebrklyn stated. I learned the hard way NOT to use paper towel to wipe debris off the car- even after the bird crap is softened.

The other day, I dripped some gasoline onto the side of the car and quickly wiped it off. Then, to my dismay, I saw fine scratch marks strewn in the area where I wiped the gasoline off of. Ouch!!!

DON'T USE PAPER TOWEL. You can soften the crap up with a soaking wet paper towel laid on top of it, but you're better off just hosing it off once softened, then wiping dry with a chamois, followed by some sort of polish/wax...

I have the misfortune of working on the south-east coast, and generally get crapped on (by very large toxic seagulls) on a regular basis!

I have found the best method is to soak with a wet sponge, but not to rub. Eventually, the crap will just fall off.

I know it is tempting to give it a little rub, but from previous experience on other cars, I don't any more!

By the way, I thought I read on a previous post not to spray detailer on bird crap? Maybe it is better, but I thought if it didn't drop off it would scratch the paint?

If there is a better way I'd love to know!

soften the bird crap then wipe it away. The point of removing it is that the acid in the bird poop can etch the paint, leaving a permanant mark!!!

lol...I have been slowly teaching my wife how to look after her 330xi.
She now knows that bird crap is bad for the paint.
So when she got a small spot on her car on Sat, I reminded her to remove it.
Well, mother's day, I'm sitting in the car in the garage. My wife is about to get into the passenger side when she notices the bird crap.
Before I know it, she's got a bottle of Windex and a paper towel and she rubbing the dry bird crap away.
Good thing I was inside the car as the neighbours kids would have learned some new profanities!
Its a shallow learning curve but it sure is long!

I put some car wash soap on a paper towel and soak it with water and then just wipe the shit off. Be careful what kind of paper towel you use as some of them are course. I use Bounty which is pretty soft.

If it was a really nasty shit, I would dry the area and then apply some wax or detailer and buff it.

so let me get this straight...the paint can't handle being wiped with a paper towel? This is a car, right? We paid $40k for this, right?

I simply can't believe it.
