Factory tyre pressures for non-RFT?
I know tyre pressure questions pop up atleast once a day but it's been bugging me for a while.
I'm using non-runflats on my car and running at higher pressure than the door plates recommend to avoid uneven tyre wear (as per forum consensus). Since you can order the car from the factory without runflat tyres does that mean those cars come with different recommended tyre pressure? If so what are the pressures? Also, does anyone know what pressures the M3 uses (I did a search but only got conflicting info)? |

I've used the door plate pressures with my non-RFTs, with no uneven wear issues...

On my Falkens I had them up at the standard pressures and noticed bad inner tyre wear after only 4k miles, after pumping them up to 36 front and 38 rear they not only began to wear evenly but felt the steering felt a lot more OEM.
The reason I ask is that I have now swapped to Vreds and 36/38 feels like too much so I was wondering what non-rft cars roll out of the factory with. |

Excessive wear on one edge is usually indicative of tracking/alignment problems, not pressures.

And on that note, if you go to the BMW usa site, you can downloadd some manuals, including the 2011_M3_Supplementary_OwnersManual in pdf form. This shows the pressures for that vehicle, although it does have slightly different suspension, etc to yours, so may not be applicable. |

The 320ED comes without runflat tyres as part of its fuel saving measures and I was under the impression that in the last year or so they had made the runflats an option from the factory but maybe I'm mistaken.

Apologies, your quite right. I'd forgotten about the UK 320ED version.

I have my non-rft rears inflated as per the door jams.
Tread depth is 4-5-4 on both sides so they are wearing more on the outsides. However I put that down to the previous owner having them under inflated, when I bought the car they were a good 3-4 PSI below the recommended pressures. So I believe having them correctly as per the door jams will give even tyre wear. |
