Indash Escort smart cord integration

I have an escort radar detector and just purchased a smart cord. I'm running into problems figuring out where I can put it. Here's a link for an e36 integration into the dash that I'm looking to replicate just don't know where it can go http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=804390

Any ideas?

Garage List
Installed mine in the ashtray - fits nicely, door can still close to hide it.

Just drill hole thru bottom of ashtray for wires to pass thru...

Mines nowhere near as stealth as that but much easier to install. I've always thought it'd be cool to do something like that in the spot right above where mine is now but i'm happy with where it is.

Yea that's just about how I have mine now, it gets the job done. What I want to to do is experiment with puting it on the light switch. The empty space to the left of the knob wouldnt be a bad location. The only problem would be what would I be able to tap into to as a power course.

You could just extend the power wire you have it hardwired to now? If yours isn't hardwired i'd recommend doing it through the fuse box. Mine's through a fuse tap and number 8 if I remember correctly
