Soft brake pedal - long travel

Hi all

My e93 330d had long brake pedal travel. Today I have pressure bled the system, but not much better.

Anyone have any clues?

my 335 is the same, took it into BMW a few times as i was not happy with it but was told it is the way they are. Typical response from them tbh.

My wifes 118 is compeltely different and bited very differently and alot sooner. I guess there is less servo assistance in ours

Not normal.

Mine is solid everywhere, even when all oem it was the same - solid and quite powerful.

Do you have judder? The pads can be knocked back by disc runout, causing larger disk to pad clearance.

Badly scored pads/discs will also cause you similar issues - how are they?

Other causes are failing master cylinder seals, or leaking vacuum hoses at the servo.

Is the travel poor when stationary, moving, or both? Does the pedal sink slowly if you keep it pressed hard whilst parked and engine running?

Steve

Hi

I get no judder, and just replaced pads

If the car is stationary And brake pedal is depressed it goes eventually to the floor. Pedal is soft while driving as well. With the old pads I noticed I can to pump brakes once then reapply to get good braking

Garage List
Brake pedal can often be soft and sink with new pads fitted.

Bed them in and things will improve.
