Went dragracing last night
Used to drag just a little for fun at a local track in Cayuga on their test and tune nights with my "family sedan" when I had it - read Maxima.
Seeing as how I got the BMW 2 months ago, I decided to take it back there with a friend of mine who has a Mazdaspeed 3 (stock). Naturally, by the time I got there, it was packed and I only squeezed in 3 runs the whole night - I have a MT btw. 1st run I didn't stage properly somehow and got a red light (I didn't jump) so that run didn't count. Next run was a 14.36 which is where I discovered I had apparently decided to leave DSC/DTC on. Stupid me. That after I had purposely turned off the A/C, radio, etc. On that one I had an R/T of 0.4x and I forget my 60'. Last run was a 14.08 (all electronic nannies disengaged) with an R/T of 0.22 and a 60' of about 2.23 or something I believe - slips in the car. Overall, I was pleased given it was my first time out - the car is stock and I was idling all the way up through the staging lanes which were taking forever due to the mass of people out. Any thoughts on my times from a stock point of view? I was launching at 2000/2100 - track was sticky last night. |

How much above sea level was this track? What temperature?
Your 60' is preventing you from breaking into the 13s. If you can post the slip it may give more answers. I am personally curious as to the mph gain from 1/8 mi to 1/4 mi, ie. what mph difference at 1/8 and at 1/4. MTs takes more practice to get good 60's especially with an open diff on stock tires. |

Your reaction time means nothing with respect to vehicle performance or driving skill. Even in you red light, you still get a time slip that is 100% accurate. Every tenth you can knock off your 60ft, you'll see removed from your ET. Check DragTimes.com to see how your times fare vs other stock 335s.
The SoCal guys are gonna have a tough time helping you if you don't communicate 1/8th mile times and mphs. Drag racing is trick stuff. ________ properties in Pattaya Last edited by satakal; 08-16-2011 at 06:03 PM.. |

Hmmm - I've never looked at the 1/8th before to see if it had mph. My car is in getting repaired (courtesy of a driver who fell asleep and bumped into me) - I'll PDF the time slips when I get the car back.

Ok - I'm not sure if this will come out properly...trying to embed a PDF document with drag times. This will provide all the info hopefully - remember I'm a newb, got my flame suit firmly on and I'm eager to learn.
And I don't understand the significance as to why everyone's hung up on the 1/8th of the mile time and mph so if anyone cares to teach me, that'd be great. |

1/4 mile tracks are dissapearing in southern california. 1/8th mile is the most accessable to me. Also, the only difference between 1/8th and 1/4 is 4th gear. 90% of the time, the race has been won by the 1/8th.
