Surprised by speed difference between 325 and 330
I had a 330i behind me today, same age as my car, same spec too by the looks of things. We came off a roundabout onto a motorway and I knew he was going to plan it, so I did too.
I pulled in because I knew he would get past eventually, but I wasn't prepared for just how swiftly it got past. 3rd gear he just sailed past. I know there's only 35bhp in it, but I guess the torque difference widens the gap! Genuinely surprised |

Are you running 3.0 litre? I've come to learn the 325 sounds fast but there is a lot out there that can keep up with you if not quicker

53hp isn't it? That's a lot of extra horses and power through the rpms.
Power is a function of torque anyway, essentially torque normalised, so comparisons can be made without knowing gear ratios and other boring stuff. Having more torque is not an advantage necessarily. |

Dunno... Having taken an XFR around a track, it's no slouch in a bend. E diff and adaptive suspension keep it solid and planted. It's certainly no worse off in a bend than an m5
