Help the squeak is driving me mad!

Hello all I've searched for this but been unsuccessful. My INTERNET connection here is a mare and hoped somebody could point me in the right direction

I've (my much loved M3) has got a what sounds like a polystyrene on polystyrene noise coming from behind the radio ish area . It gets worse as the car heats up & pressing all sorts of trim etc doesn't seem to make a difference it is really getting bad!!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone else has this & how do I fix it? I am pretty handy & have the tools etc. Are there any guides on how to strip stuff out?

Many Thanks.

I have heard someone managed to locate the area it was coming from.
Then they removed the panel hiding the issue.
Slotted some paper in between the squeaky area and reinstalled the trim over the paper.

It managed to solve his squeak... Not very sophisticated way of solving the issue...but it worked.

Does it happen when the heater/fan is on?
It could be bearing on the motor that may be sticky?
It's located behind the glovebox

No, its definitely on the centre console trim I've now discovered (near the radio, passenger side), if the weather stays nice today I've found a DIY to remove this part, looks simple enough.....hopefully I will find the source of evil.....

Its present on e90s as well. Friend and i spent 2 hours taking the trim off both our cars and the 2 central heating vents (with the traction control switch) this is easy enough. We put some felt pads anywhere where plastic was rubbing on plastic. Sadly this has not helped at all. I think mine is coming from the actual vents and i dont know how to take them apart.

We took the Air con unit out as well for a different rattle.

Same as yours mine is much worse when its warm.
