Smile OpenFlash Tablet: Datalogging now available for general beta testing

Hi guys,
Our first datalogging function release is now available for general beta testing. It logs all the parameters in the realtime data screen and is able to save up to an hours worth of data. More channels and more storage will be added in the near future. This is just a first release. If you are interested in testing this feature, please email me at shiv@vishnutuning.com and write "Datalogging Tester" in the subject thread. I only need a handful of testers. If all goes well in the next 24hrs, the update will be released to everyone.

On Monday, we will release the in-dash boost gauge feature. I just wanted to release this first

Cheers,
shiv

Does this feature basically create a data file for upload into your choice of graphing software?

Yes indeed. Before too long, it will also be graphable on the screen of the Tablet itself

No kidding ! I wasn't expecting that.......Bonus.

At some point will you guys be implementing some sort of shorter writing process for small changes to the tables?

As it stands now it looks like the entire flash gets re-written every time you make a change.

Yep, we are just doing the full write for safety's sake right now. As mentioned a few weeks ago, we will allow a partial write option (1.5 minute) soon. It just requires a bit more testing to make sure that all the necessary failsafes are in place. First priority was getting the display and logging options functional.

Thanks!

I am super ready for data logging, our cars should be capable of more ignition up top, plus a few more lbs of boost near redline. Not comfortable turning it up yet without data logs though.

Can you post the list of parameters being logged?

Shiv,

Does it log timing on cylinders 1-6, LPFP, and HPFP?

Shiv, once the partial writing is released, will we be able to change maps on the fly or will we be required to turn the car off first like the Cobb? I read something in another thread about it being possible as long as the tablet is plugged in.

Right now, only the channels in the realtime data screen are getting logged. These are the same CAN channels we log with the Procede. LPFP and HPFP (among others) will be added later. Cyl 2-6 will take some work but should be added eventually. We are structuring our datalog channel configuration to provide exactly the info needed to custome tune the rom.

We are trying to stay away from having 50+ logging channels that you have to sift through to only activate the ones that you need. Instead we are planning to have it so that all the relevant channels log at the same time, at a constant update rate. So all you do is press start log, stop log and email the log file to us (or evaluate it yourself). We will be offering a custom tuning support contract (etune) as well as in-house custom dyno tuning for those who want/need to go beyond what the standard OTS maps provide. Of course, the custom tuned maps will NOT be locked. They will be viewable since its important for the owner of the car to see what they are paying for and exactly where the power is coming from. The whole concept of hiding tuning "IP" is ridiculous.

I dont believe on the fly map changing will be possible anytime soon. The engine cannot be running during the flash process. All we can do is drop the time it takes to write the flash.
