It looks to me that it is a SRT-4(Dodge).

i have a step, so just torque braked to about 1800 and then floored it and shifted a bit short of redline.

Thanks. It was a lot better.

Again, this week I left off DSC and DTC. I think it will be better to learn my launch correctly rather than limiting the engine output electronically. Could be wrong though.

Whereas last week I had launched from 3000 RPM and then floored it, this week I launched at 4500 RPM and gave it less than full throttle until I was rolling well enough that it felt like it could be floored. In my best run, there was still some wheelspin, but not much, also with a little wheelspin shifting to 2nd gear. My highest gear to the finish was 3rd gear in all four runs.

It happens so quickly that I haven't paid close enough attention. I think I was shifting at just above 6000 rpms from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd gears.

To see what happens, sometime maybe I will try shifting into 4th gear when I get to 6000 rpm rather than staying in 3rd all the way to near 7000 rpm.

From the looks of the other 335i ETs on drag-times.com, it looks like I might shave another 2/10th off my 60' times once I can nail the launch.

If I go back to the dragstrip and go into eliminations rounds, I think I would dial in at 13.500 seconds (unless I happen to do better than that in qualifying). That way, I am not likely to break out. Even so, if I did break out, the consolation prize would be a great time.

In drag racing, I guess you lose on inconsistency, reaction time, poorly chosen dial-in, and variable track conditions/poor lane choice. All of this is where I will lose. But part of the fun is in learning.

You don't warm up regular street tires, those that do know very little about what they are doing.

No problem,

It all works out to how long it takes certain tires to "warm up" to their optimal grip, by doing a burnout out on regular street tires you are actually breaking down the tire and are going to get a worse launch. I read an article about a year ago breaking down the dynamics of so many tires and this was the engineers biggest pet peeve people who do burnouts on street tires to improve their times are actually hindering themselves.
