Whats the furthest you have ever pushed your car's limits?
We all have stories about how fast we have pushed the spedo on the highway, but how close to the limit have you pushed your car?
I have this bad tendancy to take mine off of the beaten path and run it through the dirt and mud whenever I can, just to see how far it will go... Did a little impromptu rally driving in a quarry: Still in the shop after taking it through a mud track and keeping up with the big trucks in roughly 6" of mud: Killed a CV boot and the power steering pump on this one. There is nothing like an E90 XI platform.... Last edited by SP3333D; 12-04-2013 at 09:36 PM.. |

I've had mine off the limiter, 148mph GPS verified, and yes I have the proof. I've got the wires needed to remove the speed limit, but have just been too lazy to install it. I'm a bit of a speed freak.

Dude, that's awesome! I take mine to joshua tree but that's the dirtiest it routinely gets. Dirtiest my car has EVER been was up near Yosemite - drove way off into the woods on roads marked with only numbers and paved with boulders. Had to finally turn around when the road was too rough to physically clear the rocks.
Unfortunately, it never really rains enough here for real dirt. Just dust. Pretty much blows off.

Hahaha! Wow man, that's kind of awesome to see an e90 like that! I could never have the balls to do anything off road haha.
But when I had my lil 98 subaru legacy, i took that baby off road at any chance I could, It's loads of fun!

Imagine if she was in the passenger seat on a cross-country trip. Ugh...

I'm excited to see how RWD in the snow goes. Back home I'd have been skating through parking lots by now, but California's tame as hell.

This reminds me of a time I was 16. We always took this dirt road to the top of a mountain to party at our camp. One day the road had all this nice new black gravel all over it and it was really loose and a blast to spin around and slide in. When I got home all that gravel was stuck EVERYWHERE and was a total nightmare to get off, what of it I could even get off. Turns out it was all freshly laid gravel that was coated in TAR, kinda like asphalt that was never compressed down to make a real road. My wheel wells had bricks of tar gravel hardened inside them and tar was slung all over the sides of my car. Luckily it was my first car and it was a beater anyway so no big deal buy my dad was NOT impressed at all

When I read that title I was thinking literally push the car. Yes I have pushed a car before well over a 1/2 one time when I ran out of gas, in the days when fuel gauges were mostly and estimated of what was left. I also push it up hill once, only a few hundred yards. This was all in my youth and was still dumb and strong like an Ox.
To you real point, I do not mess with my BMW that way, it is my daily driver and can not afford the a mishap. However, back in the days of pushing a car, and when Dukes Of hazards was popular we mess up a few cars, but they were built like tanks and were easily repaired. The best one was doing power slides through a little league field and popping the tires off the rims and rolling the car up on it side, and no damage to the car other than the tires. |

And you live in SF. I'm pretty sure LA rain strips paint and kills birds.
