TPMS question

I'm sorry if I'm not supposed to post this question here.

I have a '06 I'm picking up a set of wheels and tires tomorrow. They wheels were previously on a E46('01) which doesn't have a tpms system. My question is can they take the tpms of my stock rims and put them in the new rim? If not how much will a new set of tpms cost?

Btw: my tpms is the type that monitors the wheels speed, not the actual pressure.

As you stated, you have the earlier system which uses wheel speed to read pressure instead of the actual pressure transducer tire valves.

That being said, there are no tire pressure components on the wheels themselves - it senses wheel speed using speed sensors in the hubs on the spindles. So there is nothing to swap over...

You don't have a 'removable' tpms system since the FTM (tpms for 06 and early 07) monitors the wheel speed so you don't have to worry about adding/removing anything. Just put the wheels on, go into your car settings and reset your FTM, and you're good to go. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for responding. I just got off the phone with the tire shop and they said it is in the stem so they'll just transfer them to the new wheels.
