So it begins...
Hey guys, I've made several posts before, but I finally got my wheels straightened out!
I had ordered some Alzors 030's in 18x9 with some Falken FK510 in 245/35R18 and the fronts were right at the struts, so I ordered 10mm spacers all around. They went on great, drive it home and the steering wheel was vibrating (tightened the lugs again and it was fine). I also just had my exhaust delivered (BMW Performance exhaust), and am planning to install it tomorrow on my lunch break (an hour should be more than enough time). I'm looking into suspension next, since the car has such a large gap from fender to the top of the tire, but I can't decide between KW V1's or V3's. I like that the V1's are a good bit cheaper, and am okay with giving up the adjustable damper, but am wary of that opinion of mine not lasting (so any advice would be greatly appreciated). Once that's all taken care of, I was debating doing the stage 3 intake manifold with the Magnum Force Pro 5R stage 2 air intake system (I know a lot of you like the euro air intakes, but they are eluding me). I'm thinking of getting those color change headlight (and fog light) bulbs from carid, but idk if that'd look very nice :/ Thank you all for the input I've gotten from you in my last few posts, I really appreciate it!

Why do you want color changing lights?
Ricey. Illegal unless parked. But hey if it gets your jolly's off buy them I guess... V1s are fine. Have lasted over 3 years on my buddy's car in harsh NE winters.

I liked the idea of the color change so I can set them for pictures.
I used to love taking photos of other people's cars, and now that I have a car that I enjoy, I wanted it to sit pretty for photos when the time arose. My intention was to run white when driving, and sit violet or teal for photos

Yea no color changing light. IF you get bulbs, its not going look good in anyway due to the headlight design, the outer ring is not going to light up. If you do wish to get color changing headlight, i suggest you to get actual headlight ring. And there are better wheels options than Alzors, they are cheap heavy junk.

I bought Alzors because they're cheap and I wanted to check fitment and design on the car.
I'm going to replace the rims next winter with Beyern more than likely. I've never looked into aftermarket wheels before I got this car, and didn't want to shell out a lot on rims for my first set before I knew what would look that good. Plus I had just ordered the exhaust the week prior so between rims, tires, and the exhaust, it was already a decent amount of money

Thank you Mike! Those look a lot nicer than they would if I threw in those bulbs, plus the NYC shop is relatively close for me (close enough I could make the drive for a Saturday trip)

Man you guys are brutal lol! Anyways, I got Ohlins on my SGM E90 and they're amazing, but I did a whole new suspension which transformed the car.

Why get a square set up of wheels
And square set up of spacers You know the front and rear are different right? The back wheels are still tucked inwards And in the front you have a mexi-flush set up |

It's xDrive, I wouldn't run staggered on an awd car

Yea mine is/was just a base model with nav, I wasn't going to set it up staggered if it was already squared before

Did you get the PE installed? I installed mine back in the summer and it took much longer than I anticipated due to rusty bolts and using a chain cutter. I need to double back and check everything and clean up some burrs. |

Not sure why you’d think that trim levels dictate if you run staggered or square Even if its square at least get spacers in different sizes so you don’t have mexiflush in the front and tucked in the back |

I have to do a little more cutting next weekend to push it back further (I didn't have time to take care of the whole thing, so it sticks a little further out). As for the staggered vs squared setup, my shop foreman and coworkers also pushed a squared setup with the same sized spacers. I don't know if the xDrive is similar to Quattro, and that's why they told me not to run staggered, but that was what drove home my not running staggered

You don’t have to run staggered. Just take the spacers off the front. Not only does it look bad IMHO, there’s no functional benefit neither. If anything you’re just going to increase your chances of curbing your rims. |

It's hard to tell how "flush" your wheels and tires are from that single photo. That said, re-evaluating your spacers might be in order. First of all, I believe E9x's have trouble with 10mm spacers, and have seen that some even struggle with 12mm due to manufacturing tolerances. In fact, IIRC, 10mm might be the one size spacer that you cannot/shouldn't use with the E9x due to the center-bore protrusion being right at 10-12mm itself. Some guys here have even reported that 12mm was not safe for them, while others use them without issue. But again, I think 10mm is a no-go for sure unless I'm remembering incorrectly. I'd suggest a 3 or 5 mm spacer for the front if the tire was indeed that close to the strut, and then a 12mm or higher in the rear, or 5mm (or no spacer) if 12mm is too pokey.
EDIT: Wait, I just processed that you're on aftermarket wheels so most of that may not be applicable in your case. But basically make sure that your spacers are both wheel-centric ans well as hub-centric, which will depend on the center-bore of those aftermarket wheels. Did they come with hub-centric rings or are they manufactured with the same size center-bore of OE BMW wheels? If it's the latter, treat them as OEM wheels (other than width/offset, of course) when choosing spacers. Having proper spacers will ensure that you don't have problems going down the road with shuddering, cracking spacers/etc. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/t-w...s-encyclopedia
