335is - Basic Tuner Mods suggestions

Hello Everyone,

I just recently placed my order for a Euro-Delivery 335is and had a few questions on mods, etc. I still have much time to research, as my pickup month is June and will be receiving the vehicle in the states in August.

I used to have a 335i in 2007 and had it with a JB chip. Installed myself and was amazing! Now that I'm upgrading to the 335is, I figured I could upgrade to either the Dinan or Procede V5.

My question is not with the ECU/Piggyback, however, with the CAI, etc. I have not seen anywhere where a "native" CAI exists for the 335is and let alone, other mods. I'd like to know what you guys recommend as far as performance goes, with simple "DIY" Bolt-ons that can be easily removed for a dealer visit (ie. No exhausts).

Also if it matters, I chose the DCT model.

Thanks!

Dave

I recently purchased my 335is with the DCT cause I loved the way it shifts and liked it more than the 6-speed and I am a guy who hates autos till I drove the DCT. But I must say that I am really really disappointed with my choice after seeing that the damn tranmission can't even handle a tune without slipping. I feel some tuners should be more forthcoming about what this transmission can hadle if they have exprienced this transmission inability to hadle additional torque by adding tunes or mods.

Hate to start this off with a negative vibe, but the DCT cars have some issues when tuned. See if you can find some of the threads where shiv mentions the downshifting problem that is owners are running into when tuned.

My buddy has a 335is with DCT and if he is in 6th or 7th gear and auto mode, and he floors the gas, there is a major lag in the downshifting, and you can feel the transmission fall on its face. It is not fun, and it seems that the non-M dct is not nearly as durable/torque friendly as the M variant.

I would contact shiv to ask his opinion on the issue, and whether it is something that can be fixed with software/hardware mods.

Other than that, the car is a total beast. On stock power the shifts are unbelievable.

Shiv implemented a new feature where the engine cuts torque for the shift to let the transmission shift fine. You should be all good to go with the PROcede if you'd like

Yet another reason why I am leaning towards the Procede. Product Support, Customer Support and response to customer demands like no other. Thank you!

What are you guys thoughts on CAI, etc.?
