Video Request: E90 Modified Stock Exhaust

I've searched but haven't really found very much so i thought it'd be nice to have a thread where everyone with a modified E90 exhaust can post sound clips. I've been wanting my car to be a little bit louder without dropping all the money on an exhaust so i was thinking of changing up the stock exhaust. I think i'm going to get downpipes within the next 2-3 weeks but for now it would be stock cats. What i was debating doing was either removing both the resonator and secondary cats, but i feel like that might be too much rasp/drone. Another idea i had is to remove the resonator and replace the secondary cats with a Vibrant resonator. I got that idea from this video which i think sounds awesome for a stock exhaust:

Anyways please post up any videos you have or any suggestions you have. I'd like a bit louder but no drone and not that much rasp. Thanks in advance

Get downpipes, see how you like it, then if you want more delete the resonator, and last is to put vibrants res in place of the secondary cats.

Yea i was planning on that but my car is going to have work done tomorrow so i figured while it's there i could have them do something to the exhaust

I'd recommend this also. If you are definitely getting downpipes I would wait to have those on first, they change the sound for the better and might be enough as is.

I can tell you that you likely dont want to go with a simple muffler delete as it will drone like crazy and likely be very raspy.

Some people have changed their mufflers to something like vibrant, magnaflow, and even flow masters with interesting results. I dont have any specific videos though, sorry. Anyway, everyone has different tastes in exhaust, and I just want to mention it's hard to get this car not to be raspy, as inline 6 BMW engines historically always have that raspy chainsaw noise. Of course the turbo's nowadays muffle a lot of that sound. If you hear this exhaust with the wastegates open, N/A mode on some tunes, you can hear a resemblance of E36/E46 sound characterstics.

Long story short, done delete too much yet, wait for downpipes, then if anything replace stuff with resonators to smooth out sound.

Search for mwalhert on e90. He posted vids of his dps + stock exhaust combo with rear cats deleted. I run the same setup, a hint of idle rasp but no drone and improves the sound greatly. Not loud or obnoxious.

Downpipes on an E90 exhaust does absolutely nothing by itself. Still quiet as a damn Lexus. The E92 exhaust doesnt have resonators so downpipes would do quite a bit.

darn, that sucks. I'll see if I can get a video of my car in-cabin under WOT with catless downpipes + rear cat delete. If you want to take a trip out to Tarrytown, I can show you since Greenwich is about 15 minutes away.

Ok that'd be great. I may take you up on that offer if i ever get my car back... It's just sitting at the shop right now waiting for a new charge pipe. I ordered the ER but didn't realize when the stock one blew off so did the c-clip i need to reuse

I want to know who has actually had the guts to put a flowmaster on a BMW?! In theory it's disturbing but damn I bet it sounds good.

Wanted to bring this back up to the top and see if anyone has any videos they can post. I think i'm getting downpipes and having them put on sometime in the next two weeks and i'm highly considering doing a secondary cat delete while the DP's are getting installed. Does anyone have any videos revving and or driving with catless DP's, second cats deleted, but resonators still in there. I think that will be the best route in order to have a good relatively loud sound without drone and rasp. I'm really just looking for something to keep me happy until I get enough money to go for full exhaust. The car's just too quiet as it is right now in my opinion.
