[[HELP]] Problem when adjusting the height on KW V3

Hey guys,

When adjusting the height of the KW V3, does it require the spring compressor?
I have a hard time every time when I adjust the height on the KW V3.
When I turn the purple ring, the black piece on the top just moves together.
Is it because I made mistake on the installation? Or it is the way it designed?
Thanks!!

If your raising the car you gotta either compress the springs or remove the lower control arm bolt that connects to the hub side. If your lowering it, just clamp down on the top adjusting perch and use the adjustment tool to turn.

I'm trying to lower the car today. When I turn the purple ring, the black piece on the top moves together...
maybe something wrong with the installation??

Yes because of the load on it. Just find something to clamp on the black piece to hold it in place and then turn the purple ring. This would be the easiest way or you can just compress spring/remove bolt on lower control arm. Its not an install error.

Nothing is wrong with the install! It's just that the top piece has nothing to keep it from spinning. To make this simple, you can remove the control arm nut and bolt 21mm, 2 inverted torx bit and the shock's 17mm lower nut. That will allow the spring perch to drop down for you to remove the adjustment ring and then adjust it to your likings.

Or do what the above said!

Screw removing the control arm nut and all that bs.

I had the same issue on my v2's as your having. Simple solution, take a long flat screwdriver or a screwdriver type pry bar and insert it in between 2 coils on the spring just bellow the bottom of the black thing. Pry down on the pry bar which will jam the black piece up into the body of the car, once you have that done you can easily adjust the purple color. Just make sure the pry bar pivots on the spring coil. So basically the pry bars fulcrum is on the spring coil and the end of the pry bar is in the middle of the bottom of the black thing.

What I have tried is running a ratchet strap through the spring and under the control arm, slowly tightening it to compress the spring slightly.

Really wish KW made 2 adjustment tools for their coilovers, one to hold the black piece in place and one to adjust the perch. I had a hard time figuring this out too but I eventually figured out how to clamp down the the black piece in order to twist the perch.
