Exclamation Curve blew-out Bluetooth??

So here it is. My sister is on her second curve. the first phone paired.
NO PROBLEM. its gone now.
Now, im trying to pair the second and her i-drive system wont respond.
i cannot activate to "discovery" mode.

i took it to the dealer and they are telling me that the curve is not compatible since it is an 8310, and only the 8300 is acceptable. And as a result she has blown-out the Bluetooth system. here is the best part: they want me to pay $1500 to repair it!!! on a lease!! no warranty!!!

looking for some input, anything. is this possible??

It cant physically cause any damage. This problem is not your phone's fault. It is a result of a poorly implemented bluetooth stack on the BMW. For some reason there also seems to be no simple way to reset the stack. Just stupid.

If youre luck, maybe the corrupted settings are not stored in non-volatile. You can try removing the car battery for a few minutes and see if it will reset. No guarantees..

What a load of total crap.

That have a lot of nerve trying to sell you this line. Nowhere in the manual does it warn you that a phone can screw up the bluetooth system. It just tells you that some phones are guaranteed to work.

This is BS by the dealer plain and simple - don't pay and have them prove that the phone caused the malfunction. The burden is on them. Otherwise take it to another dealer who will be happy to make BMW pay. It sounds to me that they are going to charge you and charge BMW for the warranty claim.

Take it to another dealer , but first tell us which dealership you're dealing with.

take a different phone when you go to the next dealer. Tell them it's not pairing up. let them figure it out and fix it.

Complete crap. In fact, BMW is supporting the Blackberry curve because I have one and just got the snap in Smartphone adapter (finally in the U.S. - out in Germany for a while) as it is now an officially supported phone.

Ordered the smartphone option when I ordered my 2009, but it doesn't really seem to do anything other than give a convenient place to charge the phone! Yeah, supposed to use the car's antenna, but I always had a great signal with the darn thing just in my pocket, pairing via Bluetooth. Certainly NOT worth the money since the BT worked so well with me (2009 E92 anyway).
