Steering Wheel Catching?

Hiya, when turning my steering wheel round corners, it's making a strange noise. I'm not sure if it's catching on something, or it need greasing???

I don't quite know how to explain the noise. It doesn't sound as though it's catching, more of a whiney horn type sound, as though it's sticking (even though the steering wheel moves freely).

It's only started to do it over the last 2 weeks

Anyone else had this before, if so, how'd you sort it out?

took it in under warranty, but has only lasted a few months, more noticable at low speeds and easy to demonstrate to the tech, noise back again so it will go back

What did they say it was?

And how long does the warranty last? As mine is from November 2010, whereas I bought it in December 2011.

My 2011 320d was doing this - noticed it more at low speeds, the tech told me it's a grease free sleeve where the column goes through the firewall. He greased it and the sound has gone now.

3 year warranty from new on BM's
